Amazon.co.uk Review
IThe Smashing Pumpkins: 1991-2000 Greatest Hits Video Collection/I visually charts the progress of the band from grunge rockers to AOR stars. Shot on Super 8, the grainy early videos ("Siva" and "Rhinoceros") depict the progressive psychedelia of their early sound. Despite the continuation of an alternative music style on ISiamese Dream/I (the group's first album with Virgin), the videos from this era become more mainstream in a blatant attempt to get MTV airplay. Matching the commercial and accessible style of the album, the IMellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness/I videos are big-budget numbers. Drawing on their long-standing fascination with 70s youth culture, the "1979" video provides another romanticised depiction of that period, while the awarding-winning "Tonight, Tonight" is a clever remake of Méliès ITrip to the Moon/I. The epic style continues on later videos, with "Perfect" being a sequel to "1979". Also included is the harrowing short film by Jonas Akerlund, "Try" (a 15-minute extended version of the "Try, Try, Try" video), which follows the last days of a homeless, pregnant young woman. Also included are live performances from their final concert. This is a fitting anthology of both the Pumpkins' restraint and excess.p BOn the DVD:/B Due to the extensive number of bonus features available with each video (including commentaries, outtakes and behind the scenes footage), the initial selection process is far from straightforward, which is why the title menu includes a Help option to guide the viewer through the complex procedure. DVD-ROM users can also access exclusive Smashing Pumpkin art.--IJohn Galilee/I

This is some of the best music of the 90's along with some of the most artistic and brilliant videos ever made. brThe Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most experimentle bands ever. They changed there sound with every album And went against the grain everytime making some of the most unique rock music ever.brSongs like Tonight' Tonight broke away from what was popular in the mid 90's and has one of the best videos ever made. Bullet with Butterfly wings is a gritty and angsty jaw dropping video, maybe the pumpkins best known song.brStand inside your love is an amazing photogenic piece of art that gets better everytime.brThis Dvd shows all these videos and more including documentarys on the videos plus live videos of other classic songs.brThis Dvd is a must have for any fan of rock music.brThe pumpkins are one off the greatest rock bands off all time and this Dvd shows just why that is.br YOU NEED THIS DVD!

Genius! Eyecandy. This is a trip. It is quite a lot of money for one dvd, but it is a very good dvd (with the worst menu I've EVER seen)!pPumpkins videos are works of art. This dvd is about the Pumpkins videos. How can it not be good? It is exactly what it says: a collection containing the videos, including outtakes and interviews about the making of the videos. This one has a place in my "Best of" section. It transcends Pumpkins-fandom. (That means you will probably like it even if you are not a Pumpkin fan). Expensive, but worth it.

This is a very good history of one of the most under-rated bands of all time.brMost of the videos are here, only The End Is The Beginning Is The End video appears to be missing, but that is ok when you see what is on offer.brThere are a multitude of extras on offer, behind the scenes on all of the videos with the option of running commentary or music.brThe live stuff is cool too, very good sound throughout and the slickness of the title screens makes this a joy to watch.brThe video for Untitled is different to the one being shown on MTV it is a look at the band recording the song, and it is hidden too,so have fun looking for it.brThis is well worth the money, anyone who likes the band will love this.

After The Smashing Pumpkins disbanded in December last year, hopes were high for a busy afterlife. Fans have not been disappointed: as well as a Greatest Hits and new B-sides collection, the Pumpkins have served up a collection of live recordings and all their music videos.pFrom the the grandeur of Tonight, Tonight and the comedy of Today to the harrowing Try, Try, Try, each video offers something special, especially for die-hard fans. It brings together the videos we could have been seeing every day on MTV were it not for modern pop.pBetter still: after selecting a song, we have the option of either watching the video or watching the directors discuss the clip, as well as hearing running commentry or seeing special features. pTo top it off, included are two live songs, including a recording of An Ode To No One from the last ever gig, and a short film by Jonas Akerlund.pThe DVD pays a fitting tribute to a truly great band. A must for true fans, but something for everyone too.

Following their break up almost a year ago many pumpkins fans have yearned for more SP.With this dvd we are not disappointed. Amazing transfer of the videos offer stunning picture and sound quality, with great in depth views on the making of each video by band members and production crew alike. This definitely is a must for all pumpkins, and music fans, in general. In one word 'stunning'!
