One for the girls! January 25, 2002 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is a Love Story style of romance, with Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron as the loving couple. Keanu has a chance to show his skills in areas other than stunts and weaponry - this film includes him singing (in a pleasant baritone) and dancing. Charlize looks good and there's also a cuddly dog!brThis is unlikely to appeal to macho man (anyone expecting a Matrix-type gunfight will be disappointed) but most females will love it.brHighly recommended for Valentine's night.
Sweet November August 28, 2006 Babooshka (Brackley, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I LOVE this film. It represents the summary of life. Either live it or die. Theron is the embodiment of a rapturous life-lover and you can not help but fall in love with her as she embraces every day as if it is her last. Maybe it is. Reeves portrays his rigid, mechanical advertiser's role quite well, but I can not help but think that there was something missing there. Can't quite put my finger on it. However, cast aside, this is a bitter sweet glimpse in to 'life as you want to live it'. WARNING!!!Grab your tissues now! It's a heart-breaker!
Definitely a chick flick September 8, 2004 Keira (London) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
As far as titles in the "chick flick" genre go, this film is a lot more deep and meaningful than others. Casting Keanu Reeves (Nelson) and Charlize Theron (Sarah) as the leading characters was a stroke of genius, providing welcome eye candy for all viewers and brilliant acting skills to boot.pWhile some people may complain that Keanu's acting appears wooden in efforts such as this, I would tend to disagree. He not only plays the distanced workaholic to perfection at the beginning of the film, but develops the character into an amusing, warm, reawakened and happy individual as it progresses. He has been partnered with Charlize Theron for the second time since The Devil's Advocate - when you have found a winning casting combination, why change?pCharlize is stunning as ever, injecting a certain light and enthusiasm into the title from the start.pThe soundtrack of this film is just beautiful and includes the haunting tune "Only Time" by Enya.pCity slicker Nelson (Reeves) is so busy thinking about his career and achievements that he neglects to focus his energies on his personal life. A chance meeting with the unconventional Sarah (Theron), who invites him to spend the month of November living with her in her tiny apartment so she can "help" him, sends him on the path towards true love and personal fullfilment.
perfectly tragic May 27, 2002 Jonathan Phillips 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
excellent remake, and perfect for anyone who is not familar with the original, the film is a shamless love story featuring two engaging leads, the plot is orginial and perhaps more relaevant to modern day than the year the original was released, very much in the vain of 'city of angels' and just as good, very recomended
