Amazon.co.uk Review
Do you know anyone who hasn't seen this movie? A box-office smash when released in 1993, this spectacular update of the popular 1960s TV series stars Harrison Ford as a surgeon wrongly accused of the murder of his wife. He escapes from a prison transport bus (in one of the most spectacular stunt-action sequences ever filmed) and embarks on a frantic quest for the true killer's identity, while a tenacious U.S. marshal (Tommy Lee Jones, in an Oscar-winning role) remains hot on his trail. Director Andrew Davis hit the big time with this expert display of polished style and escalating suspense, but it's the antagonistic chemistry between Jones and Ford that keeps this thriller cooking to the very end. In roles that seem custom-fit to their screen personas, the two stars maintain a sharply human focus to the grand-scale manhunt, and the intelligent screenplay never resorts to convenient escapes or narrative shortcuts. Equally effective as a thriller and a character study, IThe Fugitive/I is a Hollywood blockbuster that truly deserves its ongoing popularity. I--Jeff Shannon/I

Amazon.co.uk Review
IThe Fugitive/I could have been just another action movie, compelling in the cinema but losing impact on the small screen, were it not for two things: it has a brilliant script and a very strong line-up of actors. When eminent surgeon Dr Richard Kimble is wrongly convicted of his wife's brutal murder (let's face it--his story about doing battle with a one-armed intruder is hardly plausible), he's sentenced to death. Fate, however, gives him a second chance when his prison bus is involved in an accident with a train and he escapes, determined to find the real killer and clear his name. Hot on his heels is the relentless, wise-cracking Sam Gerard, a marshal with a mission. p The two stars, Harrison Ford (Kimble, kooky beard and 47 shades of anguish) and Tommy Lee Jones (Gerard, for which he deservedly won an Oscar) not surprisingly steal the show with their battle of wits and muscle. It's a rapport that develops as the film progresses, and is both complex and fascinating--no facile goodie versus baddie scenario here. And the essential slime factor comes from Kimble's sinisterly suave friend, Dr Nichols (Joroen Krabbé superb). Great story, brilliantly done; altogether, a breathlessly enthralling two hours. p BOn the DVD:/B IThe Fugitive/I special edition features a commentary from director Andrew Davis, introducing characters and offering background insight, plus a three-way phone conversation between Davis, Ford and Jones on their experiences of the movie. There's also detailed commentary on how the spectacular train crash was set up and the endless saga of perfecting the script. Also, the usual scene selections, theatrical trailer, choice of languages (English, French and Italian) and a broad choice of subtitles. A pretty impressive package overall.--IHarriet Smith/I

5 out of 5 stars GREAT FUN!!!   November 14, 2003

What a classic! I can watch this film whenever I want and I won't get bored.Who can forget the scene where he jumps into the reservoir from the sewers.Richard(Harrison Ford) plays the role prfectly as the fugitive. He is clever, cunning and ruthless, all at once and Samuel Gerrard(Tommy Lee Jones) is just as good if not better as the federal marshall who will never give up on his prey.brNo one could have played these two roles as good as these two actors in my view, although Wesley Snipes does quite a good job in U.S. Marshals. The supporting cast is also very strong, which is probably one of the reasons it was such a huge success.brThe two villains are ones that you just love to hate, especially Kimbles FRIEND, who you would just love to smack yourself!! which I suppose is another reason why my eyes were glued to the screen.brAnyone who hasn't seen this film, should do, I recommend it very highly and I'm sure you won't be disappointed as it is really for any age.brGreat film, great plot, great acting!!!

5 out of 5 stars Near Perfect!   October 3, 2002

A truly great movie, one that I've watched countless times. Harrison Ford's on the run, trying to prove his innocence, to work out who killed his wife. Tommy Lee Jones has to catch him. brThere is not one single dull moment in this movie. Every second is unforgettable. Always mentioned is the little repartee between Kimble and Gerard (Ford and TLJ respectively) in the tunnel over the dam, and rightly so. It is fantastic, but certainly not the stand-out scene in the movie because there isn't one! brYou'll want Ford to work out 'whodunnit' one moment, and then you'll root for TLJ to catch his man the next. You are inexplicably swept along by this unmissable movie, and left fully satisfied at the end. brIt's certainly the best film of the last decade. In fact it's so good, I've stuck a small label on the tape which reads, "Rewind and re-watch". I advise you to do the same.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional Thriller   August 31, 2003

Plot summary-brA Doctor (Harrison Ford) is framed for the murder of his wife, escapes custody and sets out to discover who was really responsible.pMy Thoughts-brThis is a fantastic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The plot is intelligent with full of twists and shocks with just enough action to balance out the story (the scene on the waterfall is not to be missed).brAll the actors put in good performances but Ford particularly shines as he gives an excellent performance as the desperate and wanted man who has to find the truth.pI can't recommend this film enough and urge those who have seen it to watch it, as you probably will love it.pRATING:5 STARS *****

5 out of 5 stars One for the most complete films you could hope to see   June 8, 2001

The Fugitive has such strong characters in all parts of the film, and it is so fast paced that it will keep you gripped throughout. A must buy, and probably one of the most complete films you could hope to see in terms of tension, excitement, storyline and characters. No wonder they tried to recreate the team in a sequel.

i haven't studied the film like many other people have but i would reccomend it to anyone because i think it is the most amazing film ever made. Harrison Ford is very commited to the making and is truely gifted as an actor, i also think Tom Hanks is very talented too but that has no relevance.
