Amazon.co.uk Review Warning from Paramount Home Entertainment (UK): The stunts in this movie were performed by professionals, so neither you nor your dumb buddies should attempt anything from this movie.p Some critics see the success of IJackass: The Movie/I as the last nail in the coffin of civilisation--and they're probably right. This compilation of pain-inflicting stunts and embarrassing pranks has no artistic merit whatsoever (which doesn't keep it from being freakishly entertaining). Among other things, Johnny Knoxville and his posse get beaten up by a female kick-boxing champion; shoot bottle rockets out of their rectums; run amok in Japan wearing giant panda bear costumes; swim with whale sharks while holding pounds of brine shrimp in their swimsuits; and get done up in realistic old age makeup so that they can race each other in motorized wheelchairs, among other goofs. It's a weird mixture of machismo and masochism, adolescent recklessness and frat-boy homoeroticism, and some day someone will write a doctoral thesis about how IJackass/I relates to our safety-obsessed society; in the meantime, just enjoy. I--Bret Fetzer/I

The best movie ever!!! August 18, 2002 156 out of 165 found this review helpful
Just saw Jackass: The Movie at the Mann's Chinese theater and oh, sweet Lord was it funny! It's about an hour and a half and stars the regulars (Bam, Johnny, Steve-O, etc.) as well as a few guests like Henry Rollins, Tony Hawk, Spike Jonez and Matt Hoffman. The film begins with a hilarious slow-motion intro set to operatic music that looks more or less like the poster. It sets the tone for the film, and the energy from all parties involved seems so frantic and wild, you can't help but smile. The film as a whole is exactly like the Mtv series -- little seperately-titled gags shot on video (not film), with the same simplistic title system, and constant popups of the actors' names. In fact, the film was extremely viewer-friendly, and watching it I was able to get to know each of the participants much more easily than on the show. The difference between the film and the show can be likened to the difference between South Park the show and South Park the movie -- same humor, but the intensity is exponentially increased. It's hard to review the movie without giving away the gags, but a lot of it involved alligators, nipples, and things going in and out of peoples' asses. It's INCREDIBLY disgusting at times and just about everyone who watches this film will find something to wince at (for me, it was the 'papercut' sketch, but I'll leave that to the imagination). The film also had more of a frantic nature to it, and felt a lot like a blend between the Jackass show and Bam's CKY movies (look for Phil Margera quite a bit in the film). Only much, much worse. Was it as funny as the show? Oh dear LORD, yes! This is the most I have ever laughed at a film in my life, and I'm sure that I wasn't the onyl one at the theater for who this was true. This is everything Jackass was SUPPOSED to be and believe me, until you see the movie, you're not seeing half of what these guys are capable of (and capable of enduring). The film more than earns its R-rating, and I don't think it goes more than 5 or 10 minutes without a nice ass, inside-of-ass or gootch (the area between the balls and the ass) shot. But what's great is that the film isn't mindless, gross-out fare -- these are also some of the most clever gags we've ever seen Johnny and company come up with. It also nicely eases the audience in -- the first few sketches are longer, tamer ones, before regressing into the horrifying Why the hell are they DOING that?? type of sketches. And, like I said, it's got a real heart to it, too. There is no running plot to the film, nothing to tie the segments together, but you get a very nice glimpse into each participant as the movie progresses and more than with the show, you really feel like you're there with the gang, and you know them all by name. Johnny does the most stunts himself, but you also get to really know Bam as the insane one of the bunch, and Steve-O as the guy who'll do anything. Mtv should have a huge hit with this film, that rare work that is so funny the audience never stops laughing, or giggling, because even when the next joke is being set up, the last one is so hilarious you can't stop. And it's all due in no small part to Johnny Knoxville, and the intensity and complete glee that everyone in the film goes into each scene with..
JOHNNY, BAM CO ARE BACK TO FIND NEW WAYS TO KILL YOURSELF August 27, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Johnny fights with a pro boxer, gets shot crashes a golf car.Bam wakes his parents up with fireworksChris is back as Party-Boy in Japan.Steve-O is busy tightrope walking over an alligator pit.Dave 'Sickboy' England is his charming self drinking his own urine.Ryan shoves a car up his backside.Wee Man hides from his Jackass co-stars under a giant traffic cone.Preston gets his own back when they have a roller disco in the back of a truck, poor Preston gets his own back by steering the truck around sharp corners. As for Ehren he walks on a floor covered with mousetraps. This movie is better than the series with Johnny, Bam producer Hollyood director Spike Jonze get aged to look like old men.I Could watch this again again.A MUST FOR ALL JACKASS FANS!
Had me crying with laughter March 10, 2003 J. Barton (Dorset, UK) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Imagine Jackass the tv series stretched to an hour and given an 18 rating and you've got 'Jackass the movie'.br Within 5 minutes of the film starting I was crying with laughter (something I haven't done in years). When I wasn't crying I was laughing out loud. The stunts are pretty dangerous, and the only time I wasn't laughing was seeing Johnny Knoxvilles face before he was shot in the stomach with an anti riot weapon.br The rest of the Jackass crew are on form too, including Chris Pontius and his 'Thong Disco Dancing', Steve-O with his lethal stunts, and Jason 'wee man' Acuna being very cool and skillful on his skateboard.br One thing to beware of is that nothing is held back in the movie, including vomiting scenes and other bodily functions, so it's not something to show the family at Christmas, but if you want to get some friends together, have a few drinks, and REALLY laugh yourself stupid then this film is the one.
Jackass the movie; best movie ever April 10, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Jackass the movie has to be the best film I have every seen in my life. Imagine a normal episode of Jackass, stretch it to an hour and a half, take out the three minute break and look what you have. brFrom the hilarious opening of the huge shopping cart to the un-forgettable ending of the butt x-ray, Jackass the movie, will have you literally crying with laughter. When I went to see it, my jaw hurt so badly from the permant grin which had been on my face. brThe hilarious, stupid and downright sick stunts are still in the movie, with the original cast of Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, Steve-o, Chris Pontius, wee-man, Preston Lacey, Dave England and Ehren Mcghehey along with the special guest stars of Tony Hawks and Matt Hoffman, Jackass will have you laugh, cry and cringe.brDefinately 10 out of 10.
Words Cannot Even Begin to Describe... August 22, 2003 Michael Crane 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you thought the TV show was outrageous, wait 'til you get a load of the movie...pYep, the outrageous MTV show now has its very own movie. "Jackass: The Movie" includes all of your favorite misfits as they perform some of the most outrageous, painful, and disgusting stunts ever to be caught on camera. Join Johnny Knoxville and his gang as they do everything possible to make sure that this is the most outrageous and disgusting thing your eyes have ever seen. I will not give away any of the stunts, for what's so great about the movie is being surprised.pThere's no storyline, no plot, and no set-up. It is what it is, and it makes no apologies. That's why I love it so much. I have never cringed so many times in my life! I was laughing non-stop and my eyes were flooded with tears when it was all said and done. Be warned, this is NOT for people who get easily offended or disgusted. This is not for people with weak stomachs. If you don't like anything that's distasteful, then skip this one right now. Don't even attempt it. pIf you hate the show, you will hate the movie. THAT is a fact. Don't even bother. All it will do is make you angry that you wasted your time with it. If you love the show, then you will most likely love the movie.pThe DVD is outstanding, being that it is loaded with so many special features for you to play around with. The best are the 27 additional minutes (separate feature from the movie) that were deemed to outrageous for the theatres. It's like watching a complete Jackass episode uncensored. Other features included are two commentary tracks, "making-of" feature, outtakes, trailer and promo spots, music videos and more! The commentary tracks are hilarious and are worth checking out. (Especially the cast commentary track. They're rarely talking about the movie and it is more like they're just hanging out and drinking!)p"Jackass: The Movie" is painfully funny and disgustingly outrageous. I'm glad the DVD came out when it did, because this is the perfect time to watch something like this with all that's going on in the news right now. Really helps you get your mind off things. I laughed like crazy and cringed like there was no tomorrow. One thing is for sure; Knoxville and his crew are all going straight to Hell.... and so am I for laughing at it! You have to see it to believe it.
