Seagal does it... again September 21, 2006 Mr. Z. Miller (England) 59 out of 66 found this review helpful
Let us consider Mr Steven Seagal as an action star for one moment, a task which asks us not to comment on the quality of his movies but on his inhuman ability to kick the hell out of any other cast member ever featured in almost all of his movies.
br /
br /Seagal's films are fun. The reason for this is the forgone conclusion that Seagal's character will far exceed the abilities of any other character, but what makes it silly is that none of the other characters ever manage to realise this until... well until its far too late.
br /
br /Yes the plots are terrible and almost always revolve around Mr Seagal getting a tiny bit annoyed at the enemy, who will then kidnap or kill someone close to him (generally his daughter) at which point Seagal will be very mad and proceed to maim, wound and explode his way to the obvious conclusion of the movie.
br /
br /So if you want to see numerous explosions, an increasingly overweight man with a huge face and chiselled features perform outrageous martial arts, and a happy collection of typically cheap one liners then buy this Steven Seagal box set and proudly never let them leave your DVD player.
br /
br /Alternativly if you're expecting a serious movie then forget it.
YES PLEASE. A Hell of a showcase July 2, 2008 Aaron KD Bourn (Cambridge, UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
br /First off, I am a stick-in-the-mud fan of Steven Seagal and all of his movies, bar none. Even executive decision where he gets killed off only a third of the way through. He still adds his considerable weight to the star quality of the movie.
br /
br /My personal favourites are included, Nico and The Glimmer Man, which provide ideal book-ends to Seagal's career up to now. You can see the evolution of Seagal as a martial artist as well as an actor, and also the evolution of his ever-increasing waistline. All of these movies, but especially Under Siege 1 and Fire Down Below showcase Seagal's ability to get majorly pissed off at some militant band of adversaries because they have killed/taken hostage a member of his family/crew. The one-liners are non-stop as are the flurry of punches and kicks, Seagal's trademark. As a somewhat lesser 'action' star, there are not many that can rival Seagal. Perhaps Dolph Lundgren, but not any more. If you need a straight-to-DVD action hero, you're gonna give Seagal the call, thats just how it is.
br /
br /Calling all Seagal fans, this boxed set is a fantastic demonstration of just how good Seagal movies can be when they're done with just the right amount of humour. Under Siege 1 and 2 as well as the Glimmer Man are all very funny films as well as being action-packed.
br /
br /If you want Seagal at his best, then you want this boxed set.
Superb entertainment, good price August 15, 2008 Mr W (Manchester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great set of really enjoyable movies. If you buy this, you will be vastly entertained. That simple.
8 Seagal films - what more could you want? January 28, 2009 Chaz (London, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you're after a box set of the top 8 cinematic classics then look away.
br /
br /If, however, you're after action, explosions, planes being hijacked, battleships being hijacked, trains being hijacked, more explosions, martial arts, the environment being protected, justice being upheld and the added delight of a rapper starring alongside a martial arts champion...then this is the business.
br /
br /Ok, some of these films aren't the best, but it does genuinly include a couple of very good films (Under Seige, Nico, Out for Justice), and the best thing is once you've watched one you've got 7 more to go. What more could you want?
br /
br /Do all the story lines make sense? No. Do they need to? No. Seagal doesn't need a story line, he just needs bad guys.
the truth April 23, 2004 ryan holland (northwood, cowes, isle of wight United Kingdom) 13 out of 22 found this review helpful
this is a complete box set for the seagul fan, includes under seige 1and 2which he is famous for, the films show seagul at his best. the only downpoint being is exectutive decision, as seagul only stars for a third ofthe film, he is then killed off, which is kind of a good thing in a way.all in all though there is enough aikido martial arts to blow you away!
