Amazon.co.uk Review With refreshing energy, IBlue Crush/I is the kind of movie that girls and young women deserve to see more of. It's mostly for them (although nice tans and bikinis will attract the guys), and it rejuvenates the surf-movie tradition by showing real girls with real friendships, coping with absent parents, borderline poverty, rocky romance, and the challenge of raising a kid sister. For young Hawaiian Anne Marie (Kate Bosworth), those responsibilities are motivations to excel as a champion-class surfer--if she can overcome the fear of drowning, which she nearly did in a previous wipeout. Supportive friends (IGirlfight/I's Michelle Rodriguez, and Sanoe Lake) help her reach the climactic competition on Oahu's infamous Bonzai Pipeline, and like ISaturday Night Fever/I, this engaging film uplifts the working class without condescension, riding high toward the joy of achievement. As an amateur surfer, director John Stockwell (ICrazy/Beautiful/I) captures the extreme thrill of the sport while respecting the forces of nature and human behaviour. --IJeff Shannon/I

Awesome!! January 23, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
It#x27;s great to finally see a film where surfing isn#x27;t potrayed as the perfect lifestyle and an easy sport. What#x27;s great about this film is that it shows that not everything is perfect in the world. Although Annmarie#x27;s life might seem great from the outside, I bet that bringing up a rebellious sister and struggling with near poverty is no cup of tea. The photography in this movie is amazing, the way that it switches from over the water to under the water. The background of Hawaii is beautiful, and the Director has managed to capture the dangerous reality of surfing despite all of these factors. A must-see movie: captures the harsh reality of life with a feel-good ending!
Fantastic! May 21, 2004 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I love it! With the sun, the surf, the whole lifestyle. The three girls: Anne Marie(Kate Bosworth), Lina(Senoe Lake) and Eden(Michelle Roderiguz)live the surf lifestyle. They eat sleep, and drink surfing. Whats really refreshing about this movie is that you feel motivated after watching it. You'll prob want to take up surfing-Although not with the waves that they surf on!! It is all set in Hawaii which makes it more interesting. Anne Marie is a great surfer, but she had a near death experience, and almost died while surfing. Will she let this stop her from trying to win Pipe masters? brSome people have said that they dont want to watch this movie because they think it is just about surfing-Not true. It is about these three girls trying to live a dream, and trying to cope on their own. I would definetly recommend this movie to anyone, and especially as its coming up for summer, it'll put you in the mood. Enjoy.

GIRL POWER RETURNS April 8, 2003 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
WELL us girls have been waiting for girl power for awhile now and since the SPICE GIRLS there hasn't been any!! this movie shows that surfing is not just for guys but sometimes the girls are better that the boys. Anne Marie- a young hawiian- follows her dream of becoming 'the best sufer in the world' whilst having to look after her kid sister because her mother ran off with some guy in California. she enters the pipe masters competition but doesn't win, but that doesn't stop her from being one of the crowds faveroutes!!brAlong with her freinds and sister Anne Marie has a great time! this film contains action, comidie and romance added together to make a great movie!plilzxxxx
