A Great Music DVD December 20, 2002 33 out of 34 found this review helpful
This DVD has many things going for it and none against it. Disc 1 contains Slipknot's superb 90 minute gig from the London Arena while Disc 2 contains all the music videos. Disc 2 also contains live tracks from the London gig where you can control which camera (out of a choice of 5) to view the performance. pThe actual gig is superb with every song you would expect, from 'people=s**t', through to 'surfacing' with such songs as 'Wait and Bleed', 'Spit it Out', 'The Heretic Anthem', 'Left Behind' and the never before heard 'Purity' (also available on Disc 2). pThe concert footage is extremely comprehensive with over 30 cameras covering it (the Band members even have cameras attached to the side of their masks). The whole thing is presented in Dolby 5.1 sound or Stereo, the 5.1 makes for an awesome audio experience. Subtitles are available which makes following the speed of the lyrics a lot easier! pThe videos on Disc 2 include the never before seen animated video for 'Wait and Bleed' - an excellent video! pThe DVD provides for a comprehensive look at Slipknot live and on video, a must have for any Slipknot fan.
Liberate the Madness... November 2, 2003 Michael Crane 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I've been waiting for quite some time for a new Slipknot DVD to come out, and I was hoping it would be one that would show one of their live performances. Well, that day has come. Slipknot's "Disasterpieces" is for anybody who is a fan of Slipknot.pThis live performance is more than satisfactory. The video and sound quality is really superb. It's almost like you're there live. The concert took place at the London Arena, which shows us just how crazy a London crowd can be at one of these shows. Along with seeing them perform their songs, you get to see the band prepare for the show as well. They play a lot of songs from the second album, as well as with the first one. Some of them you can count on seeing are "disasterpiece," "wait and bleed," "(sic)," "purity," "left behind," "my plague," and many, many more.pThis 2 disk collection also features all of the band's videos, including a rare animated version of "wait and bleed," the bonus audio track "purity," and more. The animated video for "wait and bleed" is probably their best video ever. It reminds me of Tool's video for "sober." So, be sure to check that one out when you watch the second DVD.pThey're a group either people love or hate, which is fine. They're not for everyone. They take their music to the extreme, always willing to take it to the limit. Some may consider their lyrics brutal and violent, but that's not Slipknot's message. Yes, believe it or not, they do have a message. And it's not "f- the world" or "everyone is garbage." Their message is that it's okay to have negative thoughts, just as long as you deal with them the right way. They deal with their demons through music. Slipknot's "Disasterpieces" is a must-have for any Slipknot fan.
Slipknot have excelled themselves! December 12, 2002 Z. Hussain (Bedford, England) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Wow! This DVD captures Slipknot in their prime and can only be described as a masterpiece! From the moment that curtain drops and "People=S**t" starts, you know you're about to witness something special. The band storm through a blistering 90 minuite set which even includes Joey Jordison's (1) famous "spinning" drum solo! The sound is also very good live and there are even bits added to songs that aren't in the album versions. Also contained is backstage footage such as soundchecks, preparation etc which provide a fly on the wall insight on what it takes to be in a band as extreme like this. The DVD is also presented very well but you'd expect nothing less anyway with Shawn (6) responsible for the "DVD Concept" as stated in the credits. Overall, if you're a fan of Slipknot, then this should be the next thing on your "to buy" list. Quite simply, this is the level all other music DVD's should be judged at. Mind-Blowing!
Put that in your pipe and smoke it March 8, 2004 A. Foulis (Aberdeen) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Now isn't this exciting? The band backstage preparing for war. Joey being sick and shawn doing his stretches are just some of the activitys happening before us. The opening song is "people=shit" which is played incredibly well and proves to be a perfect opening song for the 'knot. This is followed by "liberate" and "left behind", a song that should be more than femiliar to you all now. One of the best things about this dvd has to be joeys drum solo. The mans a genious!! I love that guy! There is no doubt that he has to be one of the best drummers ever in the metal industry. Joey is also involved in the sound check, doing his last minute practice, like he needs it! It is also worth watching backstage with the "VIP" option. This shows the guys backstage during the joey solo and the sid solo having a breather and swapping guitars. This is shortly followed by "eyeless" which is a gem of a song, great riffing at the end of the song by mick also. The stand out tracks on this dvd have to be "(sic), "wait and bleed", "left behind", "heretic anthem" and "disasterpiece". This really is a brilliant dvd with top class performances and there is no doubt in my mind that you the reader will like this if you are heavily into the 'knot. Even if you are a fan of slayer or old metallica you will like this. Dont think about the bands image or the masks and just sit and watch and be amazed at what stares back at you. Stay (sic)
Now I wish i got into Slipknot earlier! May 18, 2005 Janice Buchanan (Wales) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I only really got into Slipknot when they released Vol.3. After watching this DVD, I wondered why they didn't keep doing 'Iowa' style music. You may think I'm mad, but look at all the other reviews!pDrumKits that sit 80 feet in the air FACING THE FLOOR AND ROTATING, flames, the classic 'Sid Crowd-serf' and the mythological and legendary begining of 'Jumpdafukup' (if you've never seen Slipknot live-it's the greatest experience EVER!)They've used their main classics at this gig, so expect pure entertainment! pNot only is there a whole gig. There's music videos, 'maggot edits' (watch the gig from the view of the band via fibre optic cameras!), alternate angles and 'Purity' (a track never released in the UK-but it's stunning).pYou'll be entertained FOREVER with this DVD. You'll also want to pay more attention to Iowa.... but it's a good thing...except for the last few tracks :PpBUYBUYBUYBUYBUY!
