Editorial Reviews: Amazon.co.uk Review The victorious winner of TV's IPop Idol/I, Will Young has already carved out a considerable run of success in the fickle world of pop. In I Will Young, Live/I he abandons the cheesy boy-band ballads in favour of a more soulful approach that is perfectly suited to his "housewives favourite" status. His first live DVD is a rather laidback, sedate affair, lacking the fancy pyrotechnics and glittery costumes changes that gave fellow Pop Idol Gareth Gates' show a bit more razzle. Young breezes his way through a host of fan favourites including his first single "Evergreen", his take on The Doors classic "Light My Fire" and the Children in Need single "You and I". Not unsurprisingly, he wheels on Gareth for the finale to perform their duet "The Long and Winding Road". pYoung is a competent and confident performer and has a great live singing voice, backed by a great band and vocalists. He has shown great guts by not heading down the manufactured pop route, and his wide-ranging audience will enjoy reliving this concert for years to come.p BOn the DVD:/B Will Young takes a similar approach to Gareth's live DVD, there are nicely designed, simple menus leading to the usual "photo gallery" and scene selection, but not much to get excited about. The picture and sound quality is quite excellent, with Young's stirring vocals always clear and crisp above the howling of 10,000 screaming fans. --IJon Weir/I

But hey I'm not complaining.brThere are a lot of good close ups of will, and the sound is superb. The duet is also better than I remembered. Definatly worth buying and watching a million times over!!! From the spine tingling start, with his backing singers singing "I Know, I Know..." and Will's voice being heard through the smoke - you know you are in for something special. Favouite tracks of mine are a very soulful "Signed Sealed Delivered", jazzy "Over You" and suberb version of "You and I". Although I didn't remember "Ticket to Love", even though I went the concert three times, this is now one of my favourites. The live version of "Light My Fire" really captures the atmosphere of the event. Plus the duet - difficult to find the words to express the excitement and envy this caused!pWill proves on this DVD as he did in concert that he can sing a whole varitey of songs and can command the stage even in such a large venue. It is hard to believe he had only been performing professionally for 9 months when he did this tour. Will really enjoys working with a live band and his backing singers, who are excellent. They all looked like they were loving every minute of it, having a great time together. The DVD has high quality sound and visuals with a great new interview with Will incuded. If you did see him live then you'll have to buy this to remind yourself what a great time you had. pPut simply, Will live and unplugged is Will in top gear. His record releases have him cruising along in the middle lane, but when he lets rip, in front of a receptive audience, then he really shows what he can do. It has been said before, and it will be said again, the boy can sing!pFans will be treated to a mixture of familiar songs from the album, From Now On, and soul classics, all of which he carries off with alacrity. You and I is memorable, Ticket to Love is great. The band and singers on stage with Will are top class, and Will clearly relishes working with them.pThis is a great performer at the start of his career, enjoy the freshness and enthusiasm of the performance on this DVD. The answer is here in this DVD/Video, and it is a definite yes. This man just gets better and better and although the album was fantastic he is so at home on the stage and truly loves what he is doing that it shows with each and every performance.pYes I am a fan and bound to be biased but this release shows Will's versatility and range that many will have only had a glimpse at through Pop Idol but it is there for all to see.pLight my fire is out of this world and as usual has the usual Will changes and the live version of You and I is to die for. The duet with Zoe - It takes Two is another one of the highlights of this DVD. I could go on but I think the message is clear - this has got to be one of the must haves of the year!!pIf you were lucky enough to go to the tour last year then this gives you the chance to relive a fantastic evening and if you didn't it will show you exactly what you were missing and I'm sure that you won't want to miss out next time.pThere is also behind the scenes footage of the tour and at one point he says that he just hopes that the tour will show that the boy can sing.pAfter watching this no-one will have any doubt about this man's artistry and talent.
