| Customer Reviews: Superb Film February 19, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Where should I start..........I recently went to the cinemas to watch this movie with not much high expectations and this thought of mine quickly changed whilst watching the first half of Khushi. I find Khushi to be a great entertainer and a completely successful movie. The movie is complete...the humour throughtout had me in hysterics, the songs had me humming all the way home, Fardeen and Kareena looked absolutely stunning on screen and rounded the film off extremely well indeed. If you are looking for a film which will have you in fits of laughther, maybe even touch your heart and packed with some great locations and costumes, then this is one for you. The songs are brilliant especially Tere Bina Tere Bina and the locations shot at are impressive. This complete entertainer is suitable for the whole family and the film moves at a paste which is neither too fast or too slow. Well done especially to Fardeen and Kareena who had done a fantastic job on this project. Trully amazing :)
Bland and flat December 23, 2008 Lyn (Melbourne Australia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
There were several of us watching this but the response was unanimous. It was dull and some scenes really overly long.
br /Kareena Kapoor was overacting in a stereotyped way- doing 'perky' in a forced way (she is usually better in movies where she is more restrained).
br /Amrish Puri as her destined love lacked screen presence and was rather bland. He looked a nice enough guy and tried hard. His dancing wasnt bad but he generally was lacking zip. Perhaps maturity will add that for him.
br /The setting is mostly around a university life and about young love.
br /The dances werent bad and some effort was gone to to make them a bit different but the songs were unmemorable.
br /There was an unnecessary comic subtheme about a lecherous 'Master' who writes songs but keeps plagiarising others music. I dont know why they bothered as this added nothing but mild annoyance.
br /They also threw in another couple who couldnt get the girl's father's approval. The father was a local thug and there was one scene of a beating by his lackies. Again I dont really know why they needed to go there except that they needed some variation and spice as the main movie was lacking that.
br /I dont mind cliche and well trodden themes in Bollywoods (life is full of repetitive cliches too!) but this was a one-note theme of 2 people destined to love who are proud and bicker all the time. Ho hum! I also dont know why bickering is so romanticised in these movies. I do relationship counselling and I know this is a sign of problems and undermines love, not reflects it!
