Amazon.co.uk Review Kate Hudson twinkles as the heroine of IHow to Lose a Guy in 10 Days/I. She's a magazine writer assigned to date a guy, make all the mistakes girls make that drive guys away (being clingy, talking in baby-talk and so on) and records the process like a sociological experiment. However, the guy she picks-- Matthew McConaughey--is an advertising executive who's just bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days; if he succeeds, he'll win a huge account that will make his career. The set-up is completely absurd, but the collision of their efforts to woo and repel creates some pretty funny scenes. McConaughey's easy charm and Hudson's lightweight impishness play well together and the plot, though strictly Hollywood formula, chugs along efficiently. At moments Hudson seems to channel her mother, Goldie Hawn, to slightly unnerving effect. --IBret Fetzer/I

A fantastic romantic comedy December 26, 2003 David Thomas (Cardiff, United Kingdom) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I am male, and would like to go on the record and say that I found this film hilarious. If you enjoy romantic comedies then this film will not disapoint, whatever your sex. It is my favourite of the genre. Also, there's no doubt about it: Kate Hudson is easy on the eyes for us gents! I would imagine Matthew McConaughey makes a pretty picture for the girls too!
UNMISSABLE November 28, 2004 Mr. G. B. Coldwell 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've just this second come to the end of the movie, and I just want to watch it again. It was absolutely amazing. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have chemistry that casting agents only dream about. The film was funny, touching and JUST UNMISSABLE!
Light hearted comedy February 23, 2005 dragondrums (Ingleby Barwick, United Kingdom) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Kate Hudson plays the part of Andie, a magazine writer who is writing an article 'How to lose a guy in 10 days'. Her mission is to date some poor unsuspecting guy and do all the things a woman can do to put a man off her...baby talk, mood swings, fluffy toys round his apartment and so on. Matthew McConaughey is advertising executive Benjamin who also has a mission. He needs to make a woman fall in love with him in 10 days in order to win a lucrative contract. When the two meet the fun really starts as Andie desperately tries to get Ben to dump her and Ben, through gritted teeth, puts up with Andie's increasingly bizarre behaviour in order to win his contract.brThis is a light hearted, funny movie for anyone to enjoy.
Why would anyone WANT to lose Matthew McConaughey? March 15, 2004 Sue Lewendon (England) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I watched this movie with sheer delight last night and I was laughing out loud all the way through. It really is very funny and the whole cast are brilliant.pI wasn't much of a Kate Hudson fan and have to say that I only decided to buy this film because it had Matthew McConaughey in it, but I was pleasantly surprised by her performance. She played her character very well and was delightfully wicked. Everything she put poor, unsuspecting 'Benny Wenny' through was pure evil in the most comical way.pMatthew McConaughey is his usual charming self here. His accent is one to die for and he too is fantastic as Benjamin. The way he puts up with Andie's antics deserves a medal. Especially with 'Princess Sofia' and the little dog 'Krull'!!!pThere are some truly memorable scenes that had me roaring with laughter. Kristen Buckley, Brian Regan and Burr Steers, who wrote this script, did a very good job indeed. The whole story is just so funny and it's great to watch poor Benjamin suffer so much at the hands of Andie.pBuy this film if you want to snuggle with your partner or have a good ole' girlie night in with a good deal of laughs.
Excellent........ October 7, 2003 Mrs C Thompson (Notts United Kingdom) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
.....this film is the funniest film I've seen in a long time and is up there with 'Meet the Parents' and ' There's Someting About Mary'. Although this is a 'girly' film, my husband watched it and found it nearly as funny as I did. I first saw this film inflight, and loved it so much, I watched it on the return journey as well, which annoyed some of the other passengers as I was laughing out loud before the gags came, just knowing what was going to happen. This really is a must see film.....
