It transpires that the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights--as brought to life in this splendidly quirky and alternately reverent and irreverent comedy--ensures everyone's freedom by protecting a whole range of expression, from the banal to the outrageous. Scripted by the writers of IEd Wood/I (another affectionately twisted biography of a disreputably eccentric entertainment figure), IThe People vs. Larry Flynt/I applies a similar sort of exaggerated and telescoped editorial-cartoon sensibility to the wild life and times of IHustler/I skin-magazine publisher Larry Flynt. Customer Reviews: A very very good film - worth buying November 13, 2007 SHANN (England, London) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful I did not know anything about Larry Flynt prior to watching this film - I'm afriad the porn industry is not a special interest of mine!! However, this was a really good film and a very powerful interesting insight into a taboo area. The story of the man who founded Hustler, faced off christian organisations and survived assassination attempts is certainly entertaining and there are some stella performances from Courtney Love, Woody H. and Ed Norton tackling some incredibly relevant and difficult issues. The fact it is based on a true account of events makes it all the more interesting. This is definitely worth buying and I would recommend it to all serious film lovers.
