Amazon.co.uk Review The last film directed by John Cassavetes, IBig Trouble/I reteamed some of the creators of the much funnier IThe In-laws/I. But despite another script by Andrew Bergman, and a cast that reunited Alan Arkin and Peter Falk, this comedy doesn't live up to its predecessor. A spoof of IDouble Indemnity/I, the film casts Arkin as a nervous insurance agent faced with huge college tuition bills for a trio of sons headed for Yale. To make extra money, he gets involved in a scheme with a woman (Beverly D'Angelo) trying to kill her husband (Falk). That the whole thing turns out to be an adventure in insurance fraud shouldn't come as a surprise. Despite an inconsistent script, the chemistry between Arkin and Falk can still produce the occasional laugh. --IMarshall Fine/I

| Customer Reviews: No troublemaker July 27, 2009 Roland Smith (Montréal, Québec, Canada) This is John Cassevetes' last film. Not a masterpiece but much better than many of today's (2000) *** films. Highly recommended.

Arkin Falk always worth a look. May 15, 2009 Dutchy (UK) OK, it's not as good as the sublimely funny 'In-Laws', but teaming up Alan Arkin and Peter Falk again was never going to be the worst idea. Once again they put their superb comic acting skills to great effect and wring out all the films comedy possibilities. Beverly D'Angelo and Charles Durning are also great performers and safe hands. The film probably doesn't really do any of them total justice but there are far worse ways of passing 90 mins.
Hmmm.... January 16, 2005 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I only bought this film because i like the comedic stylings of Beverly D'Angelo... and beleive me the comedic stylings of Beverly D'Angelo is the only good thing about this film. The plot is stupid and hard to follow, the other cast members dont seem to be putting their all into their roles either.
