| Customer Reviews: Good bonus footage, marred by mastering error on main film! November 17, 2004 24 out of 30 found this review helpful
Well, I was looking forward to owning Starshaped on DVD... having watched my old version on VHS many, many times. unfortunately, due to a mastering error, which has apparently affected all region releases - the main film is unwatchable. every piece of live music during the film is badly distorted. This is obviously a mastering error, and the sound was perfect on the VHS version. And what have EMI done about this problem? Nothing. Not a single thing. Not even a statement. This certainly wouldn't have happened to a Robbie Williams release. How difficult is it to watch the finished DVD before approving it for retail???pOn the plus side - the older footage, from 1990 and 1991 is great. Definately worth owning. There's even a hidden track containing the US version of There's No Other Way - a video rarely seen on TV anywhere.pIn conclusion - wait until EMI fix the audio problem before shelling out your hard-earning money.
Could have been better January 17, 2005 Paul rookes (Newcastle upon tyne, uk United Kingdom) 10 out of 17 found this review helpful
Well as with the review above i waited a long time for this and i was most upset when it arrived, The disc is worth the cash if your a blur fan just for the extra's ( a interesting camcorder recording of one of there first gigs and a full concert of the modern life era both with the camcorder gig being the quality you would expect from 10+ year old camcorder footage and the quality of the modern life gig footage is a+++++)but if you buying it just for the starshaped film i wouldnt bother the sound quality is disgusting and is like this on all dvd's ( a mastering problem apparently) my copy i have on vhs is 100 times better, so as in the other review, only buy if your a big fan and can put up with the bad sound... but the extra's are great

Not really sure how this got a release with the atrocious sound quality on the main feature. There really is no excuse as the VHS version has perfect sound.
br /The extras, on the other hand are great. 2 gigs from their early career. One amateur shot and one pro shot.
