lovely film April 13, 2008 D. Moses (London, London United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A gorgeous film, with hysterical moments but also heart warming in places. I particularly recommend purchasing the soundtrack, as the music, especially the main theme is beautiful and atmospheric.
A classic comedy duo August 28, 2007 C. Ryan (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We all know this sort of thing has been done so many times. The ol' comedy due act, one is a bit nuts and the other keeps them in line. We've all seen it, the producers, the odd couple, laurel and hardy...but the thing is..when it works, my god it works, and here ladies and gentlemen- it works. Nolty and short make a brilliant duo and the little girl that travels with them makes this not only a comedy but also rather heart warming. I caught this by chance on the TV, and I'm damn glad I did.
mad funny April 3, 2006 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
guaranteed to make you laugh.my eyes streamed with laughter the first time i saw this movie.martin short is just so fun in anything.theres a seen where he dresses as a pregnant woman and he loses his wig.ha ha ha ha,i was in stitches.kids loved it too.small kids beware nick gets shot in the leg.
Very charming tale January 25, 2008 I. Hall (UK) I first saw this film years ago and this film still makes me laugh out loud. Martin Short and Nick Nolte work surprisingly well together. Martin's character hold's up a bank and take's Nick Nolte's character with him and that's just the start of the story. The little girl in this film to me plays her part outstandingly. The policemen who are on the main characters tails are James Earl Jones (Star Wars Darth Vadar) and Alan Ruck Ferris Buller's Day Of and Spin City) are very funny too, especially when the two policemen talk to the vet. I'm saying no more except this is a very charming tale that is still funny even though this is 20 yrs or slightly more old. This film is to me a classic film. Martin Short is a very versatile actor. I give this film in my opinion 20/20 it's that great. If you love comedy films then buy this film as it is so funny moving all at the same time.
Excellent November 17, 2008 Florrie 22 (UK) I saw this film on TV the other day. I only caught it by chance as it followed something else I was watching, and was going to switch off but I was too busy emailing a friend. Within 10 mins I was laughing out loud. This is a lovely, silly, heartwarming film - it was a real surprise a joy. I haven't laughed so much in ages. I'm fed up with all the hype for some 'so called' comedy films which can't even raise a smile with my family.
br /Don't miss this one though!
br /I highly recommend it to anyone who loves real comedy films.*****
