Dakota and brittany are great. 7th august 2004. August 8, 2004 Kathryn Pointon (Staffordshire(England)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent film on two people who learn each other on how to act their age. Firstly, ray[dakota fanning]a fussy eight year old who teaches her nanny molly gunn[brittany murphy]how to act her age,ray acts as a young adult where's molly is quite childish. But as ray gets to like her new nanny, things start to change they become great mates who both learn from each other. They have quite alot of things in common both of their dads have just died and both are scared in different situations. [IN MANY CASES THIS FILM IS ENJOYABLE FOR ANYONE.]
am i the only one that thinks that's not what it's about? August 26, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
from all the reviews that seem to be going around for this movie, you'd think this film was definitely about one thing - learning to act your age. well, i just watched it, and that's not what i saw. i saw a film about two girls with no one they felt they could confide in or express their true feelings to. two girls, hiding the real them behind fake personas, gradually letting their true colours show and finding friendship with each other.pthere's no denying it's a chick flick, but it's not the shallow and unrealistic bunch of fluff that the majority of critics seem happy to let you believe. there are some really sad bits in this film, with, of course, the necessary cheesy hollywood-style ending where everyone lives happily ever after.pseriously though, watch this movie with an open mind, and ignore jesse spencer's awful acting and even worse singing, and this film is sure to capture your heart.
THE LOWDOWN ON UPTOWN GIRLS October 21, 2004 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I would definatly rate this film for the older 12's for it has a very sad ending, but there are no particulary rude scenes and the acting is pretty much great, it does get you right deep down though and you can watch it over and over again and they'll be something new you'll notice- it is a good buy, the special features are good I think that if your considering buying this film then if you/person you are buying for is into chick flicks then it's a great buy worth the money! GREAT CHRISTMAS/BDAY PREZZIE!
WOW!!! December 5, 2004 Natalie (Durham, England) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is an amazing film. Not at all what i was expecting. It made me laugh and it made me cry. The film dealt well with todays issues of childhood grief aswell as making me laugh more than i have in ages.brBrittany Murphy was great as always, but the limelight was stolen by the little girl. Amazing young actress...extremely funny and definitely a star of the future.brOoo...it has a hot guy in it too!brBuy it!!
