Amazon.co.uk Review Though she made her first movie at the age of 13, iDiane Lane/i has only blossomed into a true star in her 30s, and iUnder the Tuscan Sun/i marks her full flowering. After a brutal divorce, Frances (Lane) is persuaded by her friend Patti (Sandra Oh) to take a tour of Italy--where, on a whim that she hopes will rescue her from her desperate unhappiness, she buys a rundown villa and sets out to renovate it. Along the way, she gets advice from a former Fellini actress, meets a scrumptious Italian lover, and helps support Patti after her own relationship derails. The conclusion of iUnder the Tuscan Sun/i holds no surprises, but the deft turns and observations along the way are delightful. Lane carries the film effortlessly but surely, exuding both heartbreak and re-awakening passion. --iBret Fetzer/i

An uplifting film April 30, 2006 R. M. Espinoza-Ramos (UK) 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
Do you believe in signs? I do...Under the Tuscan Sun is a film about where you would be if you take a different step, if you meet a different person, if you take a different corner...
br /
br /This film also brings a bit of everything we like to talk about: destiny, love, friendship, disappointment, affair, healing, travelling, tourists, locals, and so on.
br /
br /It is a film that talk about many things and doesn't dissapoint but on the contrary everything the team puts to create it makes perfect sense so you want to watch it over again and again. Conclusion, it is a must-seen and it should be in your shopping list.
br /
br /A bit about the film...a very enjoyable film about a writer who buys an old house in Italy and changes her life after her divorce. It is full of colour and signs. With very interesting caracters and episodes.
br /
br /It is very different from the book but it rescues the essence of what the writer was trying to share with us. We write our own destiny and we have to let ourselves follow those signs.
Lovely film for all ages May 26, 2006 Jma Pinero-rey (Ely) 19 out of 21 found this review helpful
This is the sort of film that makes you want to leave the busy and often stressful everyday living in a city and go to a small and tranquil village in southern europe. The picure is very good and the screenplay is excellent. This is a great film for people of all ages

Absolutely great....what can I say.brAnybody who has been in her position will understand how it feels to get away from all of your problems and make a new life for yourself.brSuch a feel-good film. Possibly a bit simple in its context but leaves such a presence after you have watched it!brRecommended to anyone who needs to feel-good about themselves.................Anyone can do it!
A wonderful film topped by DIANE LANE's great performance April 27, 2006 Mr. M. W. Jeeves 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
DIANE LANE (after winning the Best Actress Oscar for her scintilating performance in UNFAITHFUL) turned next to this romantic film set in the gorgeous countryside of Tuscany, Italy. The film is easy going and suprisingly smart and well executed. It is a great looking film that will make you want to pack for Tuscany as soon as it's over. And DIANE LANE's excellent performance is the icing on this lovely cake!
Charming November 24, 2005 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Even though I am not a great fan of Diane Lane, I wanted to try this movie. Well, it was worth it. I enjoyed the charming way in which she and the other cast portrayed the characters, and the splendid views of Tuscany!! Delicious!!!!brDefinitely it has become a favorite with me.
