Product Description
Legendäre Reunion der Köpfe von LED ZEPPELIN. Produziert 1994 für MTV diese Show wurde später als MTV UNPLUGGED bekannt. Großartiger, vom original Soundmixer re-masterter Sound in DTS + DD 5.1 + DD 2.0!

Decades after the death of drummer John Bonham and, for all intents and purposes, the demise of the group, Led Zeppelin's popularity continues unabated--and why not, as long as they keep coming up with offerings as worthy as INo Quarter: Jimmy Page Robert Plant Unledded/I. Originally released on CD in 1994 and then in a remastered version simultaneously with this DVD, the 115-minute program (including bonus footage) was recorded on a London soundstage, in the hills of Snowdonia, Wales, and outdoors in Marrakech, Morocco. It finds guitarist Page, vocalist Plant, and an array of other musicians performing some new material, but for the most part, the repertoire focuses on their Led Zep legacy--not a surprise, considering that what they did together in that group was better than anything they've done separately, including some pretty good Plant solo efforts and Page's regrettable stint as a member of the Firm. Yet instead of simply parroting their Zeppelin period (and relying on tired warhorses like "Stairway to Heaven" and "Whole Lotta Love"), they've given the music new life, adding exotic instruments like the bodhran (an Irish drum) and the hurdy-gurdy (played by cranking a rosined wheel against a set of strings) to less familiar fare like "The Battle of Evermore" and "Gallows Pole." Add to that three brilliant new songs performed with a quartet of Moroccan players, a full complement of strings from the London Metropolitan Orchestra (on "Since I've Been Loving You" and others), and a host of Egyptian percussion and strings on an epic version of "Kashmir" (also from the London session), and you've got a world music blend that is at times genuinely thrilling--especially for those with 5.1 Surround Sound capability. I--Sam Graham/I

5 out of 5 stars Unledded, unleashed, unbelievably good   October 27, 2004

When Jimmy Page was looking for a new band project after the Yardbirds he was tempted to go in the direction of one of his chief influences, Bert Jansch, and form a Pentangle-like group, performing acoustic folk rock. Although I'm sure it would have been a great band, I doubt it would have reached the heights and the worldwide level of acclaim that he achieved with Led ZeppelinpHowever, for those of us who like to play "what-if" this release gives us an insight into the power and skill that both Page and Plant have as acoustic musicians - and what might have been.pPlant rarely unstraps his custom made, twin-neck 12/6 string Ovation acoustic guitar while romping through legendary Zep tracks including Gallows Pole, Nobody's Fault But Mine, When The Levee Breaks (my personal favourite) and Four Sticks. Page's true acoustic virtuosity is highlighted in "The Rain Song" where he expertly solos above the London Metropolitan Orchestra.pEqually amazing is the undiminished power and control of Robert Plant's voice, well into his forties when these tracks were recorded in 1995.pAlthough not entirely "unplugged" this disc does contain a great deal of 'roots' influences with significant input from musicians from Marakesh and Egypt. It is a testament to the validity of Zep's music that these diverse sources can provide an effective counterpoint for the original songs.pThe whole disc is a delight both for the original MTV footage but also for the generous additions of interviews and bonus tracks. Audio quality is excellent.pWith Led Zeppelin enjoying a well deserved renaissance, especially with a new generation of listeners, this disc represents an excellent addition to the Page, Plant and Led Zeppeling catalogue.

5 out of 5 stars Magnificent   December 25, 2006

You know, I was skeptical at first but now I just kick myself. Who am I to doubt the great Robert Plant and the musical genius himself Jimmy Page. I am only 19 years old so the only time I can see Led Zeppelin live is on the double disc DVD, that is a must! But this DVD, is a showcase of all the songs that you love but would never expect to see live. Page plays his beautiful Gibson on songs such as "Thank You" "What Is And What Should Never Be". But his acoustic sound on "That's They Way" the "Rain Song" is superb. He also treats us to playing the mandolin in "Battle Of Evermore". If you own a surround sound system, this is great. It is mixed really well and because it is played with a full orchestra, there are enough instruments to go around all 5 speakers! br / br /If you are still debating it don't. This is another milestone performance by two legends/Gods. If you are anyway a fan of the greatest band ever, Led Zeppelin, you will appreciate this. So go on and treat yourself.

If you are considering this dvd you will only read these reviews to make sure the dvd quality is good - of course you already like led zep/plant/page etc or you wouldn#x27;t be on the page!brThis is a class act dvd, excellent production and great sound particularly on dolby 5.1. - The music? - not heavy led zep but it still rocks ( It is plant and page ! ) and very much worth getting - it just grew and grew on me the more I watched/listened to it.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Reunion   October 25, 2005

As a massive Led Zeppelin fan, it took me a little while to actually purchase the Unledded dvd, Page and Plant's mid-90's reunion as part of MTV's popular Unplugged series. This was mainly due to the lack of bigger Led Zep tracks being part of this series of performances. However, what is here is, after close inspection, superb. The attempts to add Eastern elements to most of the tracks covered was exceptionally executed. Highlights include Thank You, The Battle of Evermore, Since I've Been Loving You, The Rain Song and what has to be the superior version of the best track from Physical Graffiti, Kashmir (A song which Led Zep always planned to re-record as Robert Plant was unhappy with his vocal effort). Now it seems, Page and Plant finally got round to giving Kashmir even more justice, and it's paid off, to the extent where you really should buy this dvd (or it's cd equivalent) for this track finale alone. Overall, Page is on form, with probably the most bizarrely impressive host of guitar types ever. Plant's voice is exceptional given his age, it even sounds better than it did on later Led Zep albums such as "In Through The Out Door". What is important however, is Since I've Been Loving You. This blues track is performed exceptionally, and I personally think the older nature of Page and Plant gives the track new meaning and depth. An essential purchase for Led Zep fans, and perfect for people who prefer acoustic-rock, as this is dominant here. Just a shame John Paul Jones was unforgivably forgotten throughout all this brilliance.

This is simply amazing. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant get back together to give an astounding performance. The set not only includes classic Led Zeppelin songs, but also some of their less well-known tracks, and a wealth of new material. They are both on top form, and the two stand-out tracks - Kashmir and Since I've Been Loving You just prove they are the ultimate rock Gods.
