Amazon.co.uk Review The audacious concert film IEddie Murphy Raw/I rubbed some people the wrong way upon its release in 1987, but there's no denying that between Murphy's more insensitive bits about women and gay men is some of his most inspired material. While the young comedian indulges an unattractive homophobia and rants about the sexual manipulativeness of all females, he makes up for it with an amazing story about being chided by Bill Cosby for obscene humor and does a great impression of Mr. T falling under the spell of a Jedi mind trick. The best stuff comes deep into the show, particularly a long tale of being pressured into a fight at a club, resulting in a phone call to Murphy's drunk father, the latter in the middle of a verbal attack on his wife. The scene is genuinely horrifying and funny, testament to Murphy's early reputation as heir to Richard Pryor's mercilessly autobiographical brilliance. I--Tom Keogh/I

The funniest DVD around February 18, 2005 Karl Carroll 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is 20 odd years old and shows Eddie Murphy at his best. Ranges from pretty funny to hilarious with very little wasted space. This is his best work by far, in fact it has to be in the top 3 comedies in history
Eddie is timeless!! January 11, 2005 M. Holden (London United Kingdom) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Eddie murphy is one of the best stand up comedians I have seen. Takes a great deal from Richard pryor but he updates it and gives pryor all the credit he deserves. If you haven't seen this dvd then grab a bargain and get ready to laugh your head off!!
This Is Incredible April 29, 2006 Steven Stewart (steveo.stewart@hotmail.co.uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This performance by Eddie Murphy had me laughing from start to finish, this is Eddie at his best. Forget the movies, forget the acting this is what made Eddie Murphy famous and that is from start to finish.
br /This is Eddie's look on life no matter how explicit it may be, he hits on everything from relationships to movies. This is incredible funny and if you haven't seen it you will love it because it is truly a classic.
Very, very funny May 25, 2006 ra1977 (London) When you watch this you wonder how a man so incredibly funny could make so many bad films. This stand up show has rarely been better by anyone. I lost count of how many times me and my housemates watched this during our university days and how much we quoted it (much to the annoyance of girlfriends). If you've seen delirious you'll notice the change in Eddie (five years or so in between), I get the impression he'd had a lot more relationship experience by the time he did Raw which is why his take on the subject is so spot on hilatrious. Would love to see this bloke do some stand up again, Dr Dolittle just doesn't quite match up...
classic comedy, one of the great shows of all time December 7, 2006 sean paul mccann (ireland) these days eddie murphy is ashamed of his two stand up comedy shows due to the content and the miniorities and sexual orientation that he rips through with unrelenting fashion.
br /Now i aint gonna say anything on that matter but what i know is that this is a legendary show that has lasted the test of time, doesnt sound aged, and is stll as funny today as it was then.
br /The show is coarse and crude but funny,so many classic lines of stand up are here, any one that has watched it can still repeat the lines with a fellow viewer and still laugh and while i couldnt possibly run through my favourite jokes here for fear of being censored, the sketch where his dad is drunk remain the funniest moment in stand up of all time, priceless
