5 out of 5 stars Whats wrong with it ? Its absolutely amazing!   January 23, 2005

Whats wrong with this film- absolutely nothing. Its a great film undermimed by all the absolutely tragic reviews it got whe it graced the very few cinema screens back in summer 2004. brI was so looking forward to seeing this film- seeing as i love female empowerment movies (like elektra and the superb tv show buffy) and super-hero movies. But after reading all the slating movie reviews- i was set back until the dvd release. I rented it leaving my doubts behind me. During the film- i realised that this could actually turn out to be alright. After the 1hr40min's- i was left absolutely amazed. Amazed in two ways- 1 that it was a fantastic movie, and 2- why did it get some of the worst reviews in 2004.brThe acting was fantastic(especially from Halle Berry as catwoman herself- and Sharon Stone as the pure evil baddie)- the special effects were mesmerising, the fight scenes were exhilerating, the story was interesting and the whole experience pushed me to go out and purchase the dvd the next day.brThe only things that couldve been tweeked with - are the special features arent to good on the disc- considering what the fims is- i was expecting so much more (but what was there was still great) and also i wasnt to impressed with catwomans catsuit, but they dont ruin the movie at all.brIt's just a superb movie, which reputation has been ruined by boring movie critics who dont know a stunning movie when they see one. I advise you buy this movie without hesitation- you will not regret it by a long shot. purrrrrrrrfect entertainment from start to finish.

Ever since I knew this film was to be made I was excited. Mainly because of Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in Batman Returns and the fact that I was informed that the part of Patience Phillips was to be played by Ashley Judd this time, and she is amazing. When I heard that Halle Berry was to play the part I was a little apprehensive at first because she is less familiar to me but when I saw the film I knew why they had picked her. Her performance in the James Bond film Die Another Day was quite similar to Catwoman's character in the way that she is very confident, sexy and independent. I was very impressed by her innocence and warmth as Patience Phillips and her confidence as well as her Capoeira fighting style and sexy style as Catwoman.pThe story of Catwoman is just right. A shy, pleasant, talented and hardworking girl who designs advertisements for beauty cream at a large corporation. Treated badly by her shortsighted boss and the person living opposite her (with his loud music), she is understandably fed up, however she does have some comfort in her kind friends, where she works and her boyfriend Tom, who rescues her from outside her window! She discovers that the company she works for is designing a beauty cream called Beau-Line which causes headaches, dizziness (her friend is using it) and if the person stops using it they develop worryingly severe skin rashes. However the villainess of the film, (Sharon Stone), who is the company's top model, soon to be replaced by a younger model, uses it to keep her beauty. It also makes her skin very hard, like 'living marble'. When Patience discovers the truth about Beau-Line she is disposed of and re-awakens with extraordinary cat-like abilities. This is done by Midnight, an extremely rare Egyptian Mau cat who breathes new life into her. She tested Patience's courage before, daring her to rescue her from outside Patience's window (where she meets Tom). Patience becomes a Catwoman, free from the conformities of ordinary women, free to roam around the rooftops in her home made costume (made from a leather outfit given to her by her friends (for dating emergencies) before her transformation, that she says she would never wear!), and brandishing a whip, which she uses to help her defend herself against attackers. I liked the fact that she is one of many Catwomen who have been selected by Midnight over many years, (which is explained during the title sequence). The fact that this has happened in the same way before (Midnight breathing into these women) adds an era of mystery and a twist to the conventional comic book characters, to the story of how women have evolved and of how Catwomen have evolved accordingly. Also what being a Catwoman means in today's modern society.pA very mysterious and clever film utilising effective CGI effects and a playful, effective script with plenty of familiar cat-orientated witticisms. What most impressed me was the way Klaus Badelt's music score effectively complemented the history of how Midnight got to New York (the opening credits), the love theme between Patience and Tom and Catwoman's playful, funky and sexy style as she walks in time to the music right at the end while wiggling her hips with the utmost confidence and a mischievous grin on her face!

It has a good storyline and good characters yet everyone says it is terrible? I have no idea why but i wouldn't trust other people if i were you. Think of The Blair Witch Project for instance everyone said it was great but is it? NO. have a nice day.

What can I say? I wish this was released before Christmas! -When I went to see this at the cinema I thought it could be a 'child friendly' action movie due to the 12 rating. brSeriously, the story line is good, you are genuinley interested to find out what happens at the end, and all the charaters are amazingly played.brThe lovley Hale Berry was perrrfect (sorry- that could be a christmas cracker joke!) for this role- she acts amazingly, as does Sharon Stone. I wont go into detail of the plot for those of you who havent seen this, as i dont want to spoil it for you, but the whole thing is well shot, the effects are brilliant, and this is a must see movie of 2005. brPraise goes out to Hale Berry and Co- I cant reccommend this enough- Buy it!!!!!!!!
