An afternoon on the sofa DVD November 16, 2005 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
This is a great little story. A real feel good film that leaves you laughing and feeling nice warm inside. Each character has its own little foibles which really add depth and make you feel that your are part of the family. If you want warm and cosy this is for you !!!brA definite to snuggle on the sofa with a cup of tea.

This is one of those great unknown classics. Do not miss it, it is an educated, gentle, funny spoof on English counrty life. Beautifully cast, wonderfully acted, inspiring music. Get it.
Just lovely really August 7, 2006 J. Dellow (UK) 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
My Mum taped this film years ago when I was about 6 or 7, and it ended up being a favourite of mine and my sisters to watch together. I loved the glamour of the main character and her lifestyle as well as the grit of the farm. So even though it isn't traditionally a kids' film, you should get your kids watching it, it'll provoke their imagination a lot more than the olsen twins. After wearing out our old video, I have now bought it on DVD and slip into the same cosy, idealistic little world when I watch it. And as when I was a child, I still want to be like Flora :)

Watched this a teenager back in the '80's.
br /British television drama at its best.
br /This is a quirky, funny production, filled with wonderful acting by a plethora of British stars, headed by a young Kate Beckinsale. Timeless.
br /If you like off-beat comedy drama, rent this.
