Amazon.co.uk Review
You get two hostage crises for the price of one in iHostage/i, an overwrought but otherwise involving thriller grounded by Bruce Willis's solid lead performance. Making a dramatic pit-stop on his way to iDie Hard 4/i, Willis plays a traumatized former Los Angeles hostage negotiator, now working as a nearly-divorced police chief in sleepy Ventura County, California. Willis suddenly finds himself amidst two potentially deadly stand-offs when a trio of hapless teenagers seize hostages in the fortress-like home of an accountant (Kevin Pollack) whose connections to organized crime result in Willis struggling to rescue his estranged wife and daughter, who are being held hostage by faceless thugs at an undisclosed location. Having directed two of Tom Clancy's iSplinter Cell/i video games, director Florent Siri brings plenty of slick, competent filmmaking to Willis's desperate dilemma, and the film boasts a gritty, graphic style that draws attention away from implausible plot twists. The bothersome, over-the-top performances by the teenaged villains also slightly compromise this gloomy but emotionally gripping adaptation of Robert Crais's novel, named as one of Amazon.com's best books of 2001. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

5 out of 5 stars Bruce rocks   September 30, 2006

it has been long time since there was an action movie that impressed me like this one. Bruce is just great, from the first second you see him in the movie, you will know this is going to be special. The complexity of the hostage situation, and the superb presence of Bruce make this movie a must see. there is not much to think about, but there is a lot to enjoy. this a great action movie, very well done, and a must see.

hi, first things first, if you're any bruce willis fan get this now, or if you're any true action fan get this now. Discluding "16 Blocks"-check out my review for that. this is my favourite bruce willis film, as it has plenty of action and suspense, and most importantly a good storyline. i wish it had a bit more gunplay but that might of spoilt it. i thought the cinimatography was good in this film as it had some interesting shots. the main characters have depth. one thing, i thought the certificate 18 might have been suitible as it was a bit violent, but i'm not the man for the job. overall i really enjoyed this and is a must see. not bad for £6. p.s if you're interested in this film check out my other reviews, thanks.

watched this film and i'm reading the book by Robert Crais at the moment. Although they are slightly different I have to say that the film was a classic action thriller. Spot Bruces real life daughter as his on screen daughter. great book, great film. catch them both.

Thoroughly enjoyed this movie, a great night's entertainment and ofcourse the great actor Bruce Willis! Some said this was better than Die Hard but I think Die Hard still has the edge. However, 5 stars, fantastic!
