Amazon.co.uk Review
In the grand scheme of theological thrillers, iConstantine/i aspires for the greatness of iThe Exorcist/i but ranks more closely with iThe Order/i. Based on the popular iHellblazer/i comic book series, and directed with nary a shred of intelligence by music video veteran Francis Lawrence, it's basically iThe Matrix/i with swarming demons instead of swarming machines. Keanu Reeves slightly modifies his Matrix persona as John Constantine, who roams the dark-spots of Los Angeles looking for good-evil, angel-devil half-breeds to ensure that "the balance" between God and Satan is properly maintained. An ancient artifact and the detective twin of a woman who committed evil-induced suicide (Rachel Weisz) factor into the plot, which is taken so seriously that you'll want to stand up and cheer when Tilda Swinton swoops down as the cross-dressing angel Gabriel and turns this silliness into the camp-fest it really is. The digital effects are way cool (dig those hellspawn with the tops of their heads lopped off!), so if you don't mind a juvenile lesson in pseudo-Catholic salvation, iConstantine/i is just the movie for you! i--Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com/i

5 out of 5 stars Totally under-rated - brilliant movie!!!!!!   August 6, 2006

I went to see this in the cinema despite hearing bad reviews about it. I was blown away - it is amazing. If you like movies like the 'Matrix' you will enjoy this too. It is kind of 'The Excorcist meets the 'Matrix' feel. Very scarey in parts but also some really comedic moments. It is certainly up there in my best ever movies list and I would recommend you watch it!

I had heard of the film, but never really fancied it, until it was on television and my dad was watching it br /At first, it was just on as a background distraction to me, but then it really caught my attention, and I ended up watching the whole film br /It is basically about angels and demons, which may not appeal to everyone, but the general storyline is good, and the special effects are brilliant br /In fact, I loved the film so much that I actually went out and bought it the next day! br /I would recommend this film to anyone who likes to watch films

I, like many others, have not read the comic books regarding Constantine. What I can say is that the film I found to be enjoyable, well acted and truly riveting. The special effects are great and despite what others may say, there is a storyline which keeps you hooked to the end. br / br /Although I am not a big Keanu Reaves fan, I would rate this film in the same league as The Devils Advocate which I also thought was excellent. br / br /If you see this film with an open mind you will enjoy it.

what a film!! so many people told me this film was going to be another over rated crappy american film. but everything in the film rocked. the acting was superb and the storyline was amazing, even the effects were cool. i think the most inpressive part of the film is the ending, its a mixture of good and bad emotions. definatly a rollercoaster of a film.
