Amazon.co.uk Review bGhostbusters:/bp Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the script, but Bill Murray gets all the best lines and moments in this 1984 comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (iMeatballs/i). The three comics, plus Ernie Hudson, play the New York City-based team that provides supernatural pest control, and Sigourney Weaver is the love interest possessed by an ancient demon. Reitman and company are full of original ideas about hobgoblins--who knew they could "slime" people with green plasma goo?--but hovering above the plot is Murray's patented ironic view of all the action. Still a lot of fun, and an obvious model for sci-fi comedies such as iMen in Black/i.p bGhostbusters II:/bp Much less fun than its predecessor, this 1989 sequel starts off on a bleak note by telling us our heroes from iGhostbusters/i have been on the skids for five years and Bill Murray's lead character never did hook up with Sigourney Weaver's lovely symphony-musician character. What's more, she has a kid by somebody else. Everybody's on an uphill climb, and iGhostbusters II/i never soars the way the first film did, despite having the same director, Ivan Reitman (Dave, Kindergarten Cop). The lame plot finds the boys attempting to prevent a disaster on New York City caused by too many bad vibes in the Big Apple. Yikes! Fortunately, screenwriters Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis have penned enough good one-liners to keep Murray busy, and if the ghostly special effects no longer surprise as they did in iGhostbusters/i, they're at least inventive.i--Tom Keogh, Amazon.com/i

Awesome Blast from the Past! September 19, 2006 David C (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I was a wee kid when the first Ghostbusters came out but i remember going to the cinema and loving it from start to finish....so much that i persuaded my dad to buy tickets for the next showing.
br /I was older when GB2 came out and that was awesome too. Not as funny and unique as the first one but still great fun for everyone. The best thing i loved about these films was the car they drove around in, Ecto-1 (Ecto-1A in GB2). It was a Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse with an over the top siren and lights system and in my opinion, it rocks every other vehicle to appear in a film. It could be one of the main characters in it's own right.
br /I got this DVD set of the films and loads of extras and my DVD player has hardly had a break since! After watching the films over and over again, the extras will keep you occupied. Oh yeah, there are two episodes of the Real Ghosbusters cartoons as well...So many memories of this brilliant franchise...Im crossing my fingers that they will bring it back. In short, an essential purchase if you grew up in the 80's/early 90's and watched the cartoons or films. It deserves more than the 5 stars that i can only give it!
Great Films! Classics March 2, 2006 Mr. B. Ambrose (London, England) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
These films bring back so many memories of when I first saw them in the cinema. Great effects great for the then mid 80s and a good story line. A great family film I have been waiting for a long time to get these films together in one package and it hasn't disappointed. If you are a fan of the Ghost Busters or indeed the actors like Bill Murry Rick Moranis and so on then you will enjoy this! Buy it now to add to your DVD collection! 5 stars doesn't do it justice.
I think he slimed me!? July 11, 2006 Rosco (London) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Two of the greatest movies of the 80's!! When I was really young I used to rent Ghostbusters out on VHS at every oppurtunity. It was great. I loved it and to me it's part of my childhood. I still watch it occasionally now. I will never get bored of these movies. A very nice addition to this set is the inclusion of two of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon episodes which I also remember watching. Fantastic. I love these films. Who ya gonna call?!
Oh my god!!!Relive ur childhood like i did!!! March 6, 2006 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
These two priceless gems hit out at the world of horror squealing #x27;there is no need for horror to be scary#x27;.brBill Murray, Dan Akroyd among others demonstrate the power of good scripting as these films deliver both comedy and a thrill.brWithout a doubt two of the best films ive ever seen and i go weak at the knees whenever i hear the theme tune.brThey will take you back to your childhood and return you to the ride of your life.brA must buy for anyone around 20years old now. If you havent seen them, what are you doing.
Back with the Ghostbusters I II August 5, 2009 Ade (Doncaster, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Such a shame the BD format is so poor, with noise on the screen displayed by a grainy effect. I expected a clear and detailed format, look at other reviews of BD format and avoid if you can, why pay all that money for BD when the DVD format is virtually the same apart from a few extras on BD. One of the best films of the 80's genre with proton packs, slime jet packs and special effects that still look good now. With a good serving of action, a pinch of comedy and a dash of romance all makes up a good serving of fun for most ages. If you're not a sci-fi fan then this isn't for you with ghost chases, catches and supernatural goings on, all fictional but harmless fun. These two helpings of the film franchise were a hit and sales are looking good for BD release (avoid). The first being the most memorable from slimmer, to GODS and Demon dogs to a giant marsh mellow man, to the second helping of an Evil talking painting bent on taking over the world using supernatural abilities to control a loyal subject and tries to become human again via the body of Sygorney Weavers(Aliens, Copycat) child. Not forgetting the stream of ooze under the big apple and oh and not forgetting a statue of liberty coming alive to do battle with the Evil Lord of darkness. Yes, all a little far-fetched but the music, special effects and the corny acting delivered by an up-coming cast with the screenplay written by Dan Aykroyd (My Step Mom's an Alien, The Great Outdoors) and Harold Ramis (Knocked Up, Stripes), Bill Murray (Meatballs, Stripes), Annie Potts (TV's "Designing Women"), and Rick Moranis (Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs). Both these films for a 12yr old boy were amazing, first Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, E.T then these, watch them, love them. Try the game too if your' a gamer (PS3) or whatever format you prefer.
