Extremely entertaining! October 12, 2005 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
If you think you've seen one adaptation of A Christmas Carol you've seen them all, think again. This is the story told by the Muppets, and starring Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge! I think a lot of people would immediately dismiss this idea, but they'd be bang wrong because I have to say I enjoyed this a lot more than the other Christmas Carol films.pCaine puts in a great turn as Scrooge, and the Muppets fit the parts of the other characters perfectly. Kermit is Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy his wife, with Fozzy Bear as Fezziwig (or 'Fozziwig' as he's called in the movie!). But the main Muppet turns are from Gonzo and Rizzo the rat who act as narrators of the story. This works really effectively, and the movie is funny, warm and uplifting as well as being a surprisingly accurate adaptation of Dickens's novel, despite the Muppet influence.pI would recommend this to anyone, especially if you have kids and they've never seen the Christmas Carol story and wouldn't watch one of the older films. It truly is one of the greatest stories ever.
Brilliant! December 1, 2007 ShadowFox (London, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not only do you have one of the best actors ever in this film, Michael Caine, who is a fantastic Scrooge, but you have all the Muppet favourites: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and even little Robin. A classic Christmas story made with the Muppets! What else could you ask for?

br /One of my favourite films ever with fabulous songs which gives you the excited feeling about Christmas without fail! Buy it!
Perenial favourite November 5, 2009 Mr. John P. Lusk (Scotland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this movie an it strangely has to be my favourite telling of this tale.
br /While very faithful to the book it is classic muppets, with their characteristic humour spread throughout (penguin ice skating team any one). This always gets watched every year along with another pile of DVDs. It is an enchanting, emotional, fun and scary film that makes you really believe scrooge's change.

br /On the note of the missing song which many are complaining about, it technically hasn't been 'removed' as it was never in the theatrical release of this movie. What was released in the cinema is exactly what is on this disc, however for the VHS the added the song, which made it a kind of directors cut. As many have only seen the VHS version the lack of song seems a horrid omission, however I feel that it killed the pace of the film and I'm glad it is no longer included, although I can understand others being upset.
one of the best crimbo films of all time !! December 22, 2006 Maestro (England) 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
As with a few people, my old VHS version of this film was getting scratchy and just overall of a much poorer quality than when i first bought it and i needed that all important DVD uprade.

br /Just look at the other reviews, and you will see that this is, one of, if not the best christmas film out there !!
New Version... Sadly Not! November 14, 2008 B. Rees (Wales, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased (with some excitement) this version on DVD as it says on the cover it's a "restored" version and the running time was stated as 86 mins opposed to the previous DVD release of 82 mins.
br /
br /I was convinced that it would be a "restored" version with the song "When Love is Gone" put back in... But sadly, it wasn't! Alas, it was just a re-package of the previous release.
br /
br /I've decided to keep it anyway and not take it back for a refund as I don't have it on DVD, but I have just bought the VHS version from Amazon so I can watch it this Christmas in it's full "RESTORED" version!
