An excellent watch, not only for cycling enthusiasts but for those who enjoy a good documentary. This dvd goes through the career and personal life of Lance Armstrong in 7 chapters, and his remarkable 7 Tour de France wins from 1999 - 2005. This is a truly uplifting story about an amazing man and will have you dusting the cobwebs of your bike as soon as it is finished.

Whilst this DVD obviously focuses on Lance Armstrong it does give plenty of information on the other main players during the Armstrong years. There is lots of race footage, and with commentary by the excellent Phil Liggit it is quite gripping to watch. The only gripe I have is that most of the race stats br /are given in Kilometres, which means constant translating into something meaningful. Highly recommended for fans of Lance and of The Tour.

2 out of 5 stars Badly edited and too short   October 14, 2008

I won this dvd at a quiz, I wouldn't have bought it myself. However I am a massive cycling fan, but still found it disappointing. I always find the editing on Tour de France highlights dvd's to be poor and this one is no exception. Many important stages are not shown in enough detail, if at all. There is also not enough credit given to Armstrong's rivals. There is nothing on Pantani's win at Courchevel and his attack on the stage to Morzine the next day in 2000. There is no mention or film of the climb of the Joux-Plane that day either, where Armstrong came close to losing the Tour, save for the finishing straight in Morzine. There is no footage of Ullrich's attack on the stage to Villard de Lans in 2004. There is hardly anything shown of the 2002 Tour at all. OK it was probably the least exciting of the 7 but it deserved more than it gets here. However there is a lot of time wasted showing Prologue TT's which are by and large irrelevant to the race as a whole. There are no details of the routes or mention of where the stages are, so unless you remember them you wouldn't know where they are. This dvd should have been longer, with proper highlights of the mountain stages, not just the last few kms. There are no other dvd's of Armstrong's 7 Tour wins, so if you want one then this is your only choice. It's just a shame they didn't do a better job of it.
