Amazon.co.uk Review
The surprise comedy smash of 2005, IWedding Crashers/I has a resolutely simple set up. You take Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, cast them as a pair of thirtysomethings who spend their weekends gatecrashing weddings, and put them in search of female company while they're there. The clue really is in the title. P Yet there are several elements that make the film a little bit special. First and foremost, there's the cast. Vaughn and Wilson are clearly having a whale of a time here, and it's on screen for all to see. Even in the moments where the script doesn't quite measure up, the duo have the energy and presence to keep the film ticking over. It's great too to see them backed up well by the likes of Jane Seymour and Christopher Walken, both of whom are on fine form here. P The film is also not shy of significant belly laughs, with plenty of comedic moments of note to enjoy. Granted, you'd be hard-pushed to call it high brow comedy, but that's missing the point. IWedding Crashers/I is an accessible, highly entertaining way to spend a couple of hours, and has no pretensions otherwise. And that's its strength. In short, good, funny, energetic entertainment, and it's got healthy rewatch potential too.--ISimon Brew/I

5 out of 5 stars Rule #46: Lets play a game I like to call 'Just the Tip'   December 10, 2008
Mr. W. Coles (Beyond the Thunderdome)

Wedding Crashers is another link in the chain of movies that is made up of a few of the members of the sweetly named `Frat Pack' which for those who don't know, consists of roughly Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Steve Carell, Luke Wilson and in this case Vince Vaughn Owen Wilson...(Plus one of the aforementioned, but I wont ruin the surprise) br /These guys have had a good run of flicks to date, they seem to find something a little different to base a series of jokes around, a sport (Semi-Pro-basketball, Blades of Glory-ice skating, Dodgeball-err dodgeball) or a subject matter to reel gags out on (Zoolander-modelling, Starsky Hutch-Cops) or in this case crashing weddings. br /They say a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, but fear not, this flick is not it. br / br /With possibly the best teaming of the Frat packers, the relaxed, lovable charm of Wilson and the verbal diarrhoea of Vinny bounce one liners and comic metaphors off each other like a pinball table with multi-ball bonus on full tilt (See what I did there?). It really is jam full with quotable spiel you'll be scrabbling for a piece of paper to jot down ready to unleash on the guys up the pub. br / br /So the basic story is this. The two leads play a couple of divorce mediators who during the week help couples realise where they went wrong and settle their problems, then by weekend, crash weddings under the cover of long lost relatives to hook up with girls, with much success. After a full season, and a cracking montage, the encore is to crash a huge wedding, the daughter of the Secretary of Treasury, one last blast to put the icing on the cake. br /The Secretary in question is Christopher Walken, who, I'm sorry, can deliver a line better than anyone...I mean if a part in any movie was to be cast solely dependant on an actor reading a single line, then my money would be on Walken. Other than that, Sam Jackson, Pacino and maybe Nicholson. That's it. br /Anyhow, fast forward to our guys both falling for a couple of hotties (Rachel McAdams Home and Aways' Isla Fisher) who are sisters and the daughters of the Secretary and them scoring an invite to be taken along to the family's private estate where the fun really begins - I tell ya, there are so many hysterical characters and scenes in the mid part of this film, it's a wonder the big cheese movie execs didn't try to spread it out over this and a sequel! That's what you get in this 90 minutes...two films worth of content for the price and timespan of one - how can you go wrong? br / br /So you got a gay brother, a crazy senile old Nan, a hyperactive/hypercompetitive fiancé, a flirtative Mother and then a crazy as a coconut author of the wedding crasher rulebook, Chaz, to digest in here, trust me, if you need a little pick me up on a dreary night, whack this DVD in - problem solved. br / br /So what else to say about a rom-com with a stellar cast? Well I suppose I'll just throw a quote in there - apparently this is what you do when somebody has said something perfectly before, don't change it, quote it. So...when asked about whether Jane Seymour's baps were "made for speed or made for comfort?" aghast, Wilson can only listen to the question: "So did you play the motor boat on them? You motor boating son of a bee, you old sailor you"...hilarious! br /...it'll make more sense when you get this. Because you're gunna get it right? For a fiver, you'd be a fool not to! br /

5 out of 5 stars Crying-with-laughter funny   August 7, 2009

This has become one of my all-time favourite comedies. I originally saw it at the cinema after the movie I originally wanted to see was sold out. But disappointment quickly turned to glee at this unexpectedly hilarious offering from members of the "Frat Pack". Many times in the cinema hall, I was literally crying with laughter and my belly ached. Similar reactions from the rest of the audience are enough to show that the few who commented negatively on this movie are in the minority. br / br /Vince Vaughan's funny man bounces well off Owen Wilson's charming straight man. The wedding crasher concept is itself original and gets the duo into new and interesting situations. Add to this, a number of wierd and funny characters with which they interact and you have a recipe for side-splitting laughter. The little bit of nudity in it is unnecessary and could have been left out. I don't know why movie-makers insist on including it as leaving it out could have appealed to a wider audience. br / br /I bought this movie on DVD and watch it from time from time when I need a good laugh. The comedy is silly, slap-stick, and juvenile but also very clever. Add to this the romantic stories in the background and you have a great feel-good movie which should be sold with a money-back guarantee. br / br /Don't miss it! br / br / br / br /

5 out of 5 stars True Love, with Laughs   October 14, 2009
Lark
This is the movie equivalent of the humour section great The Complete Guide to Gatecrashing: Freeload Your Way to a More Glamorous Social Life. br / br /Thematically its a comic "growing pains" movie featuring the adventures and misadventures of two martial causes/divorce mediators who, having been bequeathed a list of wedding crashing rules by a mysterious but idolised friend, have been crashing weddings for sport until one of them begins to feel the pangs of conscience wondering if its not sleazey and irresponsible. br / br /The pair agree to one final big crash, that of a major fortune five hundred family, hooking up with the brides maids they are invited back to the family's countryside retreat and it could be love. In the interim the family and their friends all turn out to be eccentric to put it mildly, with all kinds of quirks and troubled or sexual undercurrents. This is played out to full comic effect and its absolutely hilarious. br / br /I think this movie succeeds in delivering great laughs even more than Meet The Parents Meet The Fockers Box Set [DVD] [2000] and definitely more so than American Pie (Ultimate Edition) [1999] [DVD]. The humour is not gross out humour and the directors havent gone for humilitation laughs, in addition to straight laughs and entertainment there's enough heart warming asides and musings to pace the story and develop the characters and plot pleasingly. The movie has a cutesy fairy tale quality but its not too hammy and I think it would appeal to male or female viewers alike. br / br /The "uncorked" feature doesnt have a lot to recommend it over the theatrical production and the feature itself is accompanied by deleted scenes, commentaries (by Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, instantly forgetable and uninteresting, and the Director, David Dobkin), Featurettes, The Rules of Wedding Crashing and Trailers.

5 out of 5 stars Top comedy   October 4, 2007

Seen it loads of times and it's always as funny. Really hits the mark. If you like Adam Sandler, Ben Still, Owen Wilson, etc style comedies then I would recommend this to you. Slightly juvenile humour but very light hearted and watchable.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious   February 28, 2006

Not paerhaps a film for the older ones of us, but as a teenager I found this absolutely Hilarious, as did everyone i know who#x27;s watched it. The partnership between Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson is brilliant and could be another possibility for the future! Perhaps the uncorked version has too much nudity as in the sequence it has been added it only serve to slow the sequence down, so for this reason I would buy the theatrical version (which justifies it#x27;s 15certificate). Very original comedy but in places could be a little offensive, but for the majority this film will make you fall of your seats in laughter.
