5 out of 5 stars Forget the title this is the best film ever!   August 10, 2006

This film is adapted from a book which was reccommended to me by a friend. I was a bit apprehensive at first most likely due to the title. But, when I finally started to read it I was blown away. It is amazing. As soon as I had finished I read the two sequels and carried on being amazed! I then saw some adverts for the film and rushed straight to the cinema to see it. I am someone who has always believed a book will be better than a film but I stand corrected. This film is definatley the best I have ever seen and touched me in a way that none other has. br / br /The story follows four girls summer, Tibby (the rebel), Bridget (wild and sporty), Lena (shy and beautiful), and Carmen ( the writer)They had never been apart all their lives they had been best friends, until this summer. They will all be going away to different places. Bridget, to a soccer camp, Lena to Greece, Carmen to see her Dad and Tibby reluctantly staying at home working in Wallmans ( a supermarket). Before they go away they all go shopping together and in a small thrift store they find an ordinary pair of jeans. These jeans fit all of them perfectly even though they are all different heights and shapes. br / They take this to be a sign and decide that while they are away they will all share these jeans and send them fromone girl to the other while they are away. I do have to emphasis that the story is not about the jeans, it is about the things that to happen to these girls in their first summer apart and the touching realisation that true friends will never be apart. Buy this film it will change your views on film forever.

5 out of 5 stars Captivating!!   January 3, 2006

I first saw the film on a plane journey last summer and as soon as I got home I bought the book. I thought it was completly captivating and got a few strange looks as I tried unsuccessfully to stop myself from crying in my seat. The film follows the journey of Lena, Carmen, Bridget and Tibby, as they each experience there first summer apart. It deals with tender issues which every teenage girl can relate to and it kept me gripped from the very start. After reading the book I thought the film did it justice although at times the plot did alter. As I am fifteen I was aware that the film is aimed at teenagers, like the book, but I think anyone with an open mind can enjoy the film.

5 out of 5 stars How could anyone not love this film?   March 16, 2006

Don#x27;t be deceived by the title of the film: it#x27;s not pants, nor is it about pants. It#x27;s based on the book by Ann Brashares, but for anyone who hasn#x27;t read it, it#x27;s about four teenage girls who have been best friends all their lives, and are about to spend their first summer apart. To keep a strong bond between them, they decide to share a pair of jeans, which somehow managed to fit each of them perfectly, even though they#x27;re all completely different sizes. brLena, the modest beauty of the group, falls in love on her holiday in Greece, and grows in confidence. Bridget, whose mother died not too long ago, goes to soccer camp and gets off with one of the teachers, then wonders why it didn#x27;t live up to her expectations. Tibby befriends a young girl with leukaemia, and becomes emotionally attached. Carmen finds out her dad is getting married and begins to feel increasingly angry and betrayed by her father. brThese descriptions don#x27;t really give it justice because the performances put in by Alexis Bledel (Lena), Blake Lively (Bridget), and particularly Amber Tamblyn (Tibby) and America Ferrera (Carmen) and just amazing. I didn#x27;t doubt it for a moment, and I guarantee that even the hardest of people will feel close to tears at times. brAnn Brashares must feel very proud of this interpretation of her book- and happy to see the money rolling in from book sales, since this will definately make people who haven#x27;t read the book want to. brEven though this film was aimed at teenage girls, I can see anyone enjoying it (although the guys might not admit it). And it#x27;s not even slushy, if that#x27;s what you#x27;re worried about. brWatch it! You#x27;ll love it!

5 out of 5 stars A fantastic film!!!   July 29, 2006

Ok, I know this is a film that is targeted towards girls, and women, but I love this film so much! I was in my local video rental store one afternoon looking for something to rent and watch in the evening, and I saw the box for this film, and the rather odd title got my attention. br / br /Well, I picked it up and read the back cover. It didn't sound like the sort of film I would like, but something inside of me kept saying "rent it, rent it!" Well I did, and my missus was surprised when I brought it home. We watched it that night, and she thought it was just an average chick-flick, but I found it to be so much more than that. br / br /This is the story of how four best friends find a pair of jeans that somehow fits them all perfectly, and decide to share them, each one having the jeans for a week, and then posting them on to the next whilst they spend their summer away from each other. Whilst apart they experience both good and bad times. When the girls all meet up again after the summer break, they have all changed in their attitudes towards everything in life. Most especially Tibby, who before the break was very much a rebel, and rather negative in her opinions about things. After the death of her little friend Bailey (who had Leukemia) she starts to show a much more caring and loving side. br / br /Carmen makes peace with her Father, Lena breaks the long running feud between the Kaligaris and the Dounas families, and Bridget falls in love with her Soccer coach "Eric Richman". br / br /The film is backed by a great musical score that sounds very enchanting at times, and it also has a totally awesum soundtrack (see my review for the CD on Amazon.com as the CD is only available currently in the USA). I bought the soundtrack CD and play it all the time now! br / br /This is a film up there now in my top 10 fave films. I have reccommended this film to loads of people (mostly women tho), and all have watched it, loved it, and just like myself - bought the DVD! br / br /A fantastic and fun film. 10/10. br / br / br /
