Amazon.co.uk Review
One of Hilary Duff's most attractive qualities is that she's not a borderline anorexic like too many Hollywood starlets; she has a warm, full-bodied presence that makes her dangerously glossy prettiness accessible. Similarly, Heather Locklear--who's been an iconic plastic blonde on television for decades--is cultivating a bruised humanity as she matures. These two combine forces in iThe Perfect Man/i, a curious teen comedy/adult romance hybrid about a single mother named Jean (Locklear, iMelrose Place/i) whose tactic for getting over a broken heart is to move to a different part of the country, uprooting her two daughters Holly and Zoe (Duff, iCheaper by the Dozen/i, and newcomer Aria Wallace) in the process. Holly, to keep her mother from falling into another desperate and doomed relationship, uses advice from a schoolfriend's uncle (Chris Notha, iSex and the City/i) to send Jean flowers and love letters from a secret admirer. Of course, sustaining this fantasy requires some wacky antics, but iThe Perfect Man/i balances goofiness with an emotional mother/daughter tug-of-war and has some entertaining supporting actors (including Caroline Rhea, iSabrina, the Teenage Witch/i, and Carson Kressley, iQueer Eye for the Straight Guy/i). The plot, however, has holes so big that it collapses even as it unfolds. --iBret Fetzer/i

This is a really great movie about a girl, Holly, who's Mum is searching for a lovely husband, and in a desperate attempt to make her happy Holly makes up the perfect man. It makes you see life from the point of view of the parents and teenages, and is a great girly movie to make you laugh, cry, but feel happy at the end. A must-have for every girl and family.

5 out of 5 stars Great Comedy.   September 4, 2006

br /This film is a must see. It is very funny, hilarious and light hearted. The acting is superb. It was good to see Heather Locklear back in another great and hilarious acting role after a long hiatus. Heather gives a great performance as the single mother of two girls in search of a good man. Hilary Duff as her older and scheming teenage daughter was brilliant. This comedy is a hoot and will have you laughing from the very beginning to the end. I viewed this with my teenage children and we all loved it, most importantly if you are a parent it helps you to see and understand things from the teenage perspective and if you are a teenager it helps you understand things from the parents perspective. Even though it is a comedy I think it has a lot of depth and something to offer to everyone. I strongly recommend. br /
