| Customer Reviews: the greatest film i have ever seen May 24, 2006 Paul Hunter (UK) 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
The Day after tomorrow is a great film. It full of special effects, like Los Angeles getting flattened by Tornadoes tokyo getting slammed by hall and New York City being flooded by a tidle wave. Then all north America Europe Asia and Japan freeze with a storm that looks like a hurracane.
br /Thanx for reading!!!

not overly preachy September 4, 2009 Susan Belcher (St Helens, England) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
Paleoclimatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid - Innerspace [DVD] [1987]) tries to tell a conference on global warming that the world will enter a new ice age, in maybe a hundred or a thousand years (he's in need of a better calculator, because it's already happening and he hasn't noticed). Fortunately, he meets Scotland based Professor Terry Rapson (Ian Holm - Bilbo Baggins from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Extended Edition Box Set) [DVD]) at the conference, and it is Professor Rapson who sees the changes happening and warns Hall.
br /
br /Hall has an iffy relationship with his ex-wife and son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal - Proof [DVD] [2005]). Sam is also a (nervous/shy) genius in the making, and on his way to an inter-school scholastic competition in New York - strangely without a teacher or chaperone.
br /
br /Unfortunately, New York is in direct line of the storm, and anyone there is doomed to die, unless they are prepared. Hall sets off to save his son.
br /
br /The storm effects are superb: the tornados, the cloud structure (from earth and space), the freeze scenes, etc; but it is not just a special effects film, it is also a film about family, courage, determination and trust.
br /
br /The DVD has:
br / - two commentaries;
br / - deleted scenes;
br / - documentary "the science of tomorrow";
br / - behind the scenes feature;
br / - eye of the storm featurette;
br / - post production featurette;
br / - storyboard and gallery;
br / - interactive global watch;
br / - city freeze scene;
br / - audio anatomy segment;
br /and an attractive 3-D card on the front of box.
br /
br /It is a good action film, and, even though it did feel like the makers were jumping on the climate change bandwagon, it didn't feel too preachy.

Disaterous events disaterous film! May 14, 2006 Mrs. S. Fiumefreddo (worcs,england) 0 out of 24 found this review helpful
Even though this film is 'supposedly' to be great it is terrible!!! It includes cool special effects but it has a tricky story line so it is hard to follow!! In the first 30 minutes you just decide i'm not getting this film and you will turn the dvd off and think what a waist of money i should of bought something else. I thought the same to!!! Go and buy another dvd save your mone. Trust me.
