Amazon.co.uk Review A guilty pleasure but nothing more, ISliver/I is a tame thriller, made at the height of Sharon Stone's fame as she rode high off the back of IBasic Instinct/I. Where ISliver/I goes wrong though is in effectively trying to transpose the elements that made Stone's name into the film (right down to getting IBasic Instinct/I scribe Joe Ezterhas to pen the script) It doesn't work, but you can't deny that the mess it all ends up as isn't strangely entertaining.PThe plot follows Stone's character as she rents a room in an elegant block of flats. So far so good. But then there's the small matter that someone is using an extensive surveillance system to watch Stone and the other inhabitants of the flats. Could it be Alec Baldwin? Could it be Tom Berenger? As the two of them fight for Stone's affections--replete with obligatory sex scenes--there's a high chance you won't actually be that bothered, as the film desperately tries to grasp what made IBasic Instinct/I a major hit, yet fairly brutally fails.PBut still, there's fun to be had. The acting is evenly under par, and Phillip Noyce's direction is far from his best, yet thanks to a series of unintentional giggles and a fairly snappy pace, ISliver/I does has its moments. Just not that many of them#133;--ISimon Brew/I

| Customer Reviews: Under-rated! July 29, 2009 Mr. A. J. Ralph (Torquay,England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
One of my favorite thrillers bar none.Great performances from all three leads and equally as good as Basic Instinct.Sharon Stone plays a woman who moves into a fancy New York apartment where a woman was murdered. It's also revealed hidden cameras have been installed and her every move is being watched.

br /While there is no extras on the DVD and the killers identity is slightly predictable,Sliver is still top notch entertainment I can watch over and over.Great soundtrack and nail-biting suspense.
Brilliant April 19, 2006 Ali (UK) 4 out of 19 found this review helpful
This film is the most sexiest and passionate film you will see. The characters are great, especially William Baldwin!
Disturbing and steamy voyeuristic thriller October 27, 2006 pointone (Bournemouth UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Sliver stands for Sliver Heights a tall elegant apartment building where people mysteriously die, it is here that quiet and lonely book editor Carly Norris (Sharon Stone) rents a flat and meets the charming and persuasive Zeke Hawkins (William Baldwin) and tries to evade the attentions of failing author Jack Landsford (Tom Berenger).
br /
br /An unseen menace lurks in the tranquil building, and a comprehensive surveillance system watches everything.
br /
br /This was Stone's follow on film to "Basic Instinct" and fortunately she and Baldwin have excellent chemistry both dramatically and in the steamy erotic elements of the plot.
br /
br /In the nature of the drama it cannot plumb the depths of the fascination of the voyeur being able to watch every aspect of other peoples lives. However the film does explore in a limited way the transformation taking place in the ordinary Carly Norris suddenly able to sit for hours spying on her neighbours, and that turns a small part of this thriller into an intriguing psychological drama.

br /Direction, acting and script make the most of a film that is a must for Sharon Stone fans.

Worth just for Sharon Stone June 24, 2007 Jay (Mauritius) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This film is an obvious capitalization of Basic Instinct's success. As usual in these cases, it fails. While the plot is promising, it never creates the proper atmosphere and it lacks depth. It is worth just for Sharon Stone, who is a pleasure to watch, and the redeeming soundtrack.
