Amazon.co,uk Review Created and produced by Shaun Cassidy (yes, the former teen idol who also produced iAmerican Gothic/i), iInvasion/i starts in a flurry with a devastating hurricane threatening a Florida city and a 21st-century family happens to be in the middle of it. There's park ranger Russell Groves (Eddie Cibrian) and his wife, Larkin (Lisa Sheridan), who's an inquisitive television reporter. Living with them is Larkin's no-account brother, Dave (Tyler Labine), who blogs about conspiracy theories and aliens while between jobs. Also living with them some of the time are Russell's kids, Rose (Ariel Gade) and Jesse (Evan Peters), who also spend time with their mother, doctor Mariel Underlay (Kari Matchett), who has also remarried, to the town's sinister sheriff, Tom (William Fichtner). Tom also has a child from a previous marriage, sexy teen Kira (Alexis Dziena).p Amid the chaos of the hurricane, little Rose is the only one to notice a group of strange lights dropping from the sky into the water, then Mariel disappears only to turn up in a swamp the next morning, seemingly unharmed but now with a strange affinity for water. Not so lucky is Dave, whose investigation of Rose's colored lights leads to the discovery that those lights have a pretty fierce set of teeth. And what does the sheriff have to hide? Parts of iInvasion/i feel like iThe X-Files/i or i24/i, and obviously the central concept isn't new, but it has enough revelations and spooky chills to keep the viewer coming back for more. Unfortunately, even all that wasn't enough to keep iInvasion/i from being canceled after its first season. The problem is that the season--and the series--ends in a whopping cliffhanger, which may never be resolved. So before you invest yourself into a full season of iInvasion/i, be warned. i--David Horiuchi/i

Cancelled.....whaddya mean cancelled?!?! December 5, 2006 O. Doyle (Ireland) 22 out of 24 found this review helpful
I had already ordered Invasion by the time a friend told me they'd seen it and though it was rubbish. Then I heard it had been cancelled and I thought `great....what a waste of money....it's bound to be rubbish if they cancelled it'. Boy am I glad I'd already ordered it as Invasion was fantastic.
br /
br /The story starts with a hurricane approaching the Everglades. When the hurricane hits strange lights are seen falling into the water. As you'd expect with a hurricane there are lots of missing people the morning after.....but they soon start turning up....naked and near the water.
br /
br /What I loved about invasion was the fact that although it's a sci-fi show there wasn't any of the clichéd gory aliens coming out of the water and body snatching in the usual sense. The story was done so well that it actually seems plausible. The hybrids didn't exhibit any obviously alien traits and that made it more believable also. The characters in this show were all fantastic. I can't pick one out that was better than the other....they were all just that good.

br /I have to say I am absolutely astounded that this show as cancelled as it had so many directions that it could have went. And I'm devastated that I'll never know what happened next. ABC get a grip and bring Invasion back!!! It's been a long time since I've seen a decent show on tv and for them to cancel it after just one season is sacrilege!

THE INVASION ENDS May 26, 2006 faith (UK) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Invasion is and was the best show on our screens. Unfortunately I've been doing some research and abc, the makers of Invasion, have only made one season with no plans to make a second or even to re-run the first. This is so frustrating as it seems that all the best things end before there time. Invasion is a MUST SEE show. There are loads petitions to help bring back Invasion on the web.
Best Sci-Fi series for ages May 21, 2006 Steve Tabb (Farnborough,UK) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
We've finally got a decent Sci-Fi series that (hopefully) won't end after just one series. This is a twist on the 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' theme, where inhabitants of Florida are being taken over by strange glowing creatures that appear in the water after a hurricane.
br /The final episode of Season 1 is being shown on Channel 4 tonight and I for one wouldn't miss it!
br /Highly Recommended if you like anything to do with aliens etc...
I wasn't that sure first... May 14, 2007 Niklas Fabian (Kassel, Germany) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
...even though the price is really more than fair, presently. I saw every single episode on TV and was really fascinated by the characters and the interesting storyline that keeps the whole series exciting until the last episode.
br /
br /Many of previous reviewers already mentioned that the last episode ends with a sudden and unexpected cliff hanger that makes you want to see more. Many even reckoned it to be disappointing to be left this way and that there won't be a second series.
br /I disagree on that.
br /Although this surely didn't mean to be the "chosen ending" by the director, it leaves you thinking of what might have happened afterwards instead of telling the viewer everything. Honestly, I even don't really want to know how it would have continued because I'm happy the way it is now.
br /One also has to look at the whole story which is very well written. The conflict between the two families changes slightly from one episode to another and it always makes you looking forward to how it is going to develop.
br /Also worth mentioning is that none of the actors is strikingly worse than one of the others. They all play there roles authentically (outstanding performance: Sherrif Tom Underlay, played by William Fichtner), although one may sometimes easily find some stereotyped ideas behind them.

br /For those who are not sure whether to buy the DVD set or not:
br /
br /First of all, I do not regret it until now! I eventually purchased it to support "Invasion" on the one hand and on the other, to have one of the best series on DVD I've ever seen.
br /I realised that I had already forgotten most of the very early scenes and I'm glad to be able to see them again. Furthermore I discovered that many nice details can only be seen when not being distracted by the main storyline. The whole background is much more conclusive then.
br /Also there are some missing scenes added to the episodes but I can't tell whether they are good as I couldn't make them out yet and haven't watched them seperately.
br /
br /Eventually I can recommend this DVD to anyone who has not yet seen the series and even to those who already saw the whole thing on TV.
br /Boredom while wathing it is surely very unlikely.

Intelligent Sci Fi-No lasers, no gruesome effects!! May 29, 2006 S. Kearney (Paisley, Scot.) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
At long last a show that is intelligent and thought provoking without having to resort to gruesome effects and flashy fight scenes. The series is far superior to LOST without a doubt. Although slow to start it builds steadily until it is truly gripping and the final episode has a shock and twist you just don't get on TV!!! ABC are apparently not renewing it but I hope they come to their senses and don't let it become another American Gothic-everything about this show is quality if you like things a bit more intelligent rather than dumb 'miss a few' and pick up where you left off...I can't recommend this highly enough!!!
