A good spook - very enjoyable August 21, 2006 Jim (Surrey) 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
I would highly recommend this film. Its well filmed, performances are great, and the suspense and scare factor is really high! There were plenty of moments when i jumped out of my seat - particularly toward the build up at the ending.

br /It will be compared to the 'grudge' etc because of the young ghostly girl, but this shouldn't be dismissed as just another horror film, its unique and highly enjoyable.

I found this movie very intriguing. Its idea is original and the
br /atmosphere is very dark and moody. A definately must for the horror-mystery fan.
What horror films should be. August 11, 2008 C. Coomber (Newcastle , UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic film finally films are getting scary again instead of all the mindless blood and gore rubbish we've recently had to put up with (texas chainsaw masacre, hostel, the saw sequels...).
You'd be baaarking mad not to like this film August 22, 2008 Mr. Jonathon T. Beckett (Dracula's Crypt) MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
br /I approached this film with some trepidation, after reading so many negative reviews of it. I need'nt have worried, as its a little gem.
br /The story concerns a mother and daughter(Maria Bello and Sophie Stuckley) who have travelled to Wales from America to visit the father of the child,James, played by the excellent Sean Bean. There is also a farmer who works on James's land who tells of old Welsh myths and legends, of the Welsh Otherworld called Annwn, and how fifty years ago a preacher led his congregation in a mass suicide off the cliff edge.
br /Soon after, the child Sarah dissapears, and is presumed drowned, only for the mother to start seeing glimpses of a child around the house, not her daughter but a strange child called Ebril, who claims to know the whereabouts of the missing child
br /There are elements of lots of other films present here, The Ring, The Others, The Orphanage, but this film still feels fresh and can chill on occasion. Abigail Stone, a young Welsh actress is excellent as the mysterious Ebril, playing the parents off against eachother, and there is excellent support from Maurice Roeves as the secretive farmer Dafydd.
br /All in all, an excellent little chiller, well worth watching, and deserving of wider recognition.
A jump in your seat treat August 21, 2006 Daniel Martin 15 out of 19 found this review helpful
I was almost put off seeing this film after reading a poor review, but I have to say that I found the film to be gripping, well acted, very scary and atmospheric. The theme of a mother doing everything she can to bring her daughter back from the dead was compelling, especially considering the ultimate consequences! A treat for fans of horror thrillers.
