5 out of 5 stars Uma whoooaarrr...!!!   August 23, 2006
Belly Flop (London)

Went to see this with the girlfriend in protest thinking it was just a slushy chick flick but to my surprise I loved it. The story gets going pretty quickly and in a real unconventional way Uma is stunning as the 30 something divorcee. The scenes between her and Meryl Streep (once she finds out her new toy boy is actually her Meryl's son)are hilarious, particularly, the 'finding the clitoris' scene!. br / br /Well worth a watch me thinks and guys don't be put off if your girlfriend arrives home with a copy....! br / br /

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFULL ROM COM   August 23, 2006

If you are a fan of Rom-Coms...or even if you have a mild interest PRIME really stands up. I did not expect to enjoy this film but it really is a superb story. br / br /The chemistry between Uma Thurman and Brian Greenberg is electric at times, Meryl Streep also appears in a 'mother in law' role in which she excells! br /I cannot reccomend this one enough

5 out of 5 stars Give the film a break - it's a grown-up romance.   November 24, 2006

I absolutely adored this film (so much in fact, that I'm writing a sociology essay on it). Meryl Streep is incredible, but then that is a given. Uma Thurman is charming and her love-interest (who looks like a young Gabriel Byrne) is great as the cheeky, confident younger man. br / br /The advertising of the film is however misleading. It certainly isn't a laugh out loud 'rom-com' (though there are moments) like the trailler suggests, which is why some people have been disappointed. However, if you have been in a one of those relationships where love sometimes just isn't enough, you'll love this. It's really quite insightful about modern relationships, but in no way pretentious or preachy. br / br /In summary, the film is a romantic comedy for grown-ups. If you liked 'Shopgirl' and 'The Break-Up' you will definately enjoy this.

5 out of 5 stars When you know...you know (it's good)   January 21, 2007

I adored this film. Don't judge it on the cheesy American story line, this is a real gem of a film, in my mind on a par with 'This Years Love'...another real treat. Admitedly I'm female and watched it home alone with a few good glasses of wine in me (!!), but I think that is this film's niche market. At one point near the end I nearly retracted everything I've just written...but it then redeemed itself. I am not a review writing obsessive....but when something really moves me/inspires me/intrigues me, I feel the need to share. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing....Ray Lamontagne....say no more. Enjoy.

I loved this movie because it simply doesn't have the unrealistic things that we see in movies today, this is real. Its takes real feelings, real issues and brings them to light with such ease. I love the simpleness of the film and i love the realtionship issuses that the film covers, the questions and fears that uma's character had are what women would ask and things that they would go through and she did it so well. It is easy to laugh because you find yourself thinking the way the characters do. I loved it i rented this film now i want to own it. Great laugh and lovely feel good movie.
