Amazon.co.uk Review IPirates of the Caribbean: At World's End/I is a rollicking voyage in the same spirit of the two earlier IPirates/I films, yet far darker in spots (and nearly three hours to boot). The action, largely revolving around a pirate alliance against the ruthless East India Trading Company, doesn't disappoint, though the violence is probably too harsh for young children. Through it all, the plucky cast (Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush) are buffeted by battle, maelstroms, betrayal, treachery, a ferocious Caribbean weather goddess, and that gnarly voyage back from the world's end--but with their wit intact. As always, Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow tosses off great lines; he chastises "a woman scorned, like which hell hath no fury than!" He insults an opponent with a string of epithets, ending in "yeasty codpiece." p In the previous IThe Curse of the Black Pearl/I, Sparrow was killed--sent to Davy Jones' Locker. In the opening scenes, the viewer sees that death has not been kind to Sparrow--but that's not to say he hasn't found endless ways to amuse himself, cavorting with dozens of hallucinated versions of himself on the deck of the Black Pearl. But Sparrow is needed in this world, so a daring rescue brings him back. Keith Richards' much ballyhooed appearance as Jack's dad is little more than a cameo, though he does play a wistful guitar. But the action, as always, is more than satisfying, held together by Depp, who, outsmarting the far-better-armed British yet again, causes a bewigged commander to muse: "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?" As far as fans are concerned, it matters not. I--A.T. Hurley/I

A Great Film August 14, 2007 Alexandra (Manchester, England. We know how to rave.) 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
I have to start off with the action sequences, they were stunning and very enjoyable to watch. I occasionaly found the plot a bit difficult to follow, but to be honest, i was quite happy to just sit and watch and be swept away by it all. I feel it still retains the magic ingredients that made the first film a success, humor, stunning effects and some very lovely actors!
Greatest of the three! July 15, 2007 TOMMOT (England) 10 out of 17 found this review helpful
Definitely the greatest of the three POTC movies, this was just non-stop excitement all the way through. It's two hours and forty minutes long, but it didn't seem that long at all. In fact, I watched it all the way through at the cinema with no intermission and with no fidgeting! That was how glued I was. Tom Hollander makes Lord Cutler Beckett really shine as a villain, as well as Johnny Depp, Keith Richards, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Geoffery Rush and Chow-Yun Fat, not forgetting all the other great actors in the movie. I will hardly ever touch the first or second one again after seeing this. Truly brilliant.
Satisfying 'end'. August 6, 2007 Miss J (Scotland) 11 out of 19 found this review helpful
Sequels often try, and fail, to be as big as the original (Spiderman 3 being a prime example in recent memory). Not so with the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies. They literally pushed the boat out with At World's End, bringing together all the old favourites for one last Pirate adventure. And what an adventure it is!

br /Superb action shots, quality performances from Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly et al, mixed with the heart and comical elements loved so much from the first movie, At World's End whisks you away, sailing along nicely to a satisfying conclusion.
A Great End To One Of The Greatest Trilogies August 11, 2007 Reviewer (UK, Dundee) 11 out of 19 found this review helpful
Despite the terrible reviews that some users are leaving for POTC3, I still believe that this film is brilliant and ends the trilogy in a different exciting way.
br /The action is great, and ignoring the likes of Orlando Bloom, the acting is great too! It diverts from the usual sunny islands to new locations with Singapore and the wildness of the sea, which fits perfectly with the storyline of the threat of pirate extinction.
br /If you want something different from the norm and liked the previous two great films this is perfect for you.
br /If I spent money seeing it three times at the cinema - it has to be worth it.
I loved it August 7, 2007 Celtes (wales, uk) 12 out of 21 found this review helpful
Everyone is saying how bad this film is... but I disagree. I thought it was fantastic. The special effects are amazing and I didn't find the plot hard to follow at all. I thought it was very easy to follow!

br /Johnny Depp was superb as always, and supported by an incredible cast- Jack Davenport, Tom Hollander, Mackenzie Crook, Bill Nighy etc. Even Keira Knightley seeed to have come into her own in this film. The weak link was Orlando Bloom, who did nothing for me except make me cringe every time he opened his mouth. the real star for me though was Naomie Harris. I just loved her portrayal of Tia Dalma and she stole every scene that she was in.

br /I thought the ending was very successful. They could have gone for a soppy, 'happily ever after' ending... but they didn't and that really impressed me. It would have ruined the whole thing if they had.

br /OK... this film is not an intellectual film... but it doesn't pretend to be. It's a film you go to see for some lighthearted, swashbuckling fun. That's it. If you go in expecting anything more... you will be disappointed.
