5 out of 5 stars Intelligent British RomCom   January 6, 2007

SOASN is fun, touching, intelligent British independent romantic comedy. A series of overlapping meetings on Hampsted Heath one sunny London afternoon touches on the humour and emotion of blind dates, long lost re-unions, divorce and first encounters - from gay and straight, old and young perspectives. With a stellar cast of finest UK talent it is hard to pick a single favourite - Ewan McGregor, Sophie Okonedo and Mark Strong are a tour de force, with Tom Hardy stealing some great moments. Light touch from Ed Blum in his first feature harks back to Ealing Comedies, with the presence of Catherine Tate confirming her impact on the big screen. Rib-hurting laughter guaranteed to break out at some point.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant   May 20, 2007

I rented this on the spur of the moment not really knowing what to expect and i'm so glad I did - it's one of the best films I've ever seen. "Nothing happens" says the reviewer below - actually everything happens but it's cleverly written so that you read between the lines. That's the point of it. It's a snapshot of a series of relationships between couples on Hampstead Heath and it captures beautifully the nuances of love and relationships.

5 out of 5 stars A lovely film. great on a chilled out evening with a glass or 4 of wine   November 25, 2007

A really sweet film with a bitter undercurrent. It realistically captures a summy day at Hampstead Heath (in North London) brilliantly which is perfect for the setting in which a great number of couples, all of whom are currently involved in damaged, messed up relationships or simply at the end or past of end of their great loves. br / br /There is much to admire about the shear honesty of each couples stories or discussions, there isn't a dishonest beat anywhere. It's not a particulary synamic film, almost more of a docunmentary with not start or end, but the film comes off better as a relaxed snapshot of each relationship. Each story is shot in loving fashion, with the Heath taking the role of a character in itself and setting the lazy and relaxed atmosphere for the film throughout. It's nice to see a park being used to create a relaxed atmosphere because after all why do we go to the park in the first place. br / br /So if you fancy a relaxed evening with a nice glass of wine and not much to concentrate on but without the falseness of most this is a great one for you to rent or even buy.

5 out of 5 stars Great!   December 16, 2007

Superb writing, acting, story/ies and dialogue, I loved this film right from the start. br / br /Obviously none of the stories are particularly likely to happen, but the filming, writing and acting made the whole thing seem real. br / br /I can't believe this film isn't better known.

5 out of 5 stars Premier   May 18, 2007

I was lucky enough to be working for Fossil who sponsored the after show party and so had the opportunity to go to the premier. Once all the speeches had been made and I had finally finished routing through the goody bag on my seat, I settled back to watch, what turns out to be one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. br /Beautifully observed and laugh out loud comedy, so well scripted and acted that my sides were aching with laughter. br /I would recommend this film to anyone, great for when you have friends over or even for a Sunday afternoon on the sofa. If you think you have relationship problems, well think again. br /You will either love or hate this film and if you're after an American cheap laugh a minute comedy, then you need to look elsewhere. br /
