5 out of 5 stars my kind of chick flick   August 8, 2008

I can't understand why people complain about the "depth" of the story when this film was obviously designed to be a bit of fun. I would suggest they try Shakespeare - but they'd probably pick fault with the plot holes in Macbeth, Henry V, etc. br / br /It makes a nice change for us females to have a fluffy action film with five attractive male leads to drool over, rather then the usual nubile young females struting around in their bra and panties or flashing the flesh for no apparent reason. br / br /Yes, the script is a little on the lightweight side but so are the Hammer Horror Dracula, Frankenstein and Mummy scripts. As for any plot holes, due to theatrical time constraints there are bound to be bits that have been left on the cutting room floor. I, personally, would like to have seen a full edition of this film with the extra footage included on the dvd release. br / br /The extras are poor but they are the same as the American version so I can't really complain (what am I saying of course I can complain - were are the outtakes, the cast commentaries, and the other items which usually come as standard?) br / br /I'll be honest with you - I like this film, I like it a lot, and I'm not going to apologise for that. It is one of the few films that I can put on my computer and watch while I do my work, or put in the dvd player and watch with family, including my mother. It's nice to have a film that isn't dependent on foul language and nudity to try and keep your attention because it has little or no story. br / br /I read the reviews of this film and though I'd make up my own mind - I would suggest that you do the same. br / br /Possible spoilers be here - The Coventant involves our five handsome leads, and a couple of nubile girlfriends thrown in for the male viewers. Four of these boys have been raised together "like brothers", the other should have been part of the group but it was believed that his bloodline had died out during the Salem Witch hunts. When the boys turned 13 the received limited "witchcraft" abilities and the knowledge that using these abilities are addictive and each use will shorten their lives - something which no-one explained to the fifth boy until it was too late and he was an addict. At the age of 18 they will gain their full powers, Caleb is due to assend to his full power when the film starts and what follows are the discovery of Chase's true identity, the reasons for the fifth boys appearance at the private school and the build up to the final battle. br / br /I don't go for "chick flicks" all that romance, I much prefer action - like I said - this is my kind of chick flick. Some good looking male totty with added action, and limited slushy bits. Nice :)

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant effects and very entertaining   June 7, 2007

Well, after reading the other reviews, I felt they were very unfair. The film is all about gorgeous people (which makes you wanna work out in the gym even harder), special effects and easy watch. I found it very entertaining and will recomend it to those who are into witchcraft and the like. br /Although the acting wasn't an oscar winning performance, they all new actor and we should give them a chance, they did a good job. br /I just found the special effects amazing to watch and how realistic they looked.

I have read peoples reviews of this film and how bad it is and i dont see where they are coming from. I watched this film and instantly loved it. The actors and story line is good, the special effects are good. Amd I overall loved it and the way that it is all about 5 families that supposedly started the Ipswich colony and how they were witches. br / br /You must watch this film because it is an event that you will love also.

5 out of 5 stars magic   October 30, 2009

Great film i bought for my mum as she liked it when i bought it and she could no longer watch it lol. about a group of boys who ahve magic in there bloodline and keep a pact amongst themsleves then the new boy in town with his innocent face and gd surface manners soon starts causing trouble. it turns out he is also one of the boys who has magic in his bloodline but his family was wanting domination so they were shunned and he wants to get his revenge. ends with a big battle between the new boy and the eldest of "brothers". to find out the result buy the film lol

4 out of 5 stars Why is this so hated?   March 24, 2007

Ok, as one of the other review mention this is basically 'the Craft' with boys instead of girls. Yes, it's mildly brainless fluff but that's the entire point. It isn't meant to be a deep, intelligent film- it's meant to be something you can watch to swith off. br /The special effects are incredibly decent for a film without a massive budget- they aren't overdone, they look realistic, and they're backed up by accurate human acrobatics. The opening scene on the cliff has a wonderful visual impact. br /This film is the basic good vs evil teen romance. It doesn't matter if it doesn't make you go away thinking deep thoughts. It's still a good film.
