Good October 22, 2008 David Byrne (United Kindgom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This film is really good for a Disney film-with adult themes.I didn't think it would be all that but it turned out to be really inspiring. If your a fan of mark wahlberg this is tottaly different from his other movies but its still wicked.5 stars

Enjoyable October 15, 2007 Dodster (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Based on the true story of Vince Papale who made it into the NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles from open try outs.
br /The movie portrays his troubles and doubts as he struggles with what life throws at him, and the plight of the working man in a difficult time in America's industrial relations.
br /Probably one for the dedicated sports or American football fan, although my family watched this and quite enjoyed it, and they are not keen sports fans!
A pleasant surprise. January 6, 2009 Prof TBun (Birmingham UK) I should first declare that I am in the minority of the U.K. audience who is experienced at playing american football.

br /I think this film acurrately shows what it takes to make the team as an outsider. During the action sequences, players didn't seem to hold back much which was great.
br /
br /The obligatory romance was limp, but it wasn't what the film was about. This is a film about commitment to succceed, patience and staying focussed.
br /
br /Included also is a short documentary about Vince Papale, and the making of the film. It is well worth watching after the film.
br /
br /I am not convinced that this is a film for everyone. However if you are seriously interested in american football, then I would recommend it.

The best thing about this film is that it couldn't happen today May 22, 2009 Mr. Matthew Sheen (Chester, Cheshire UK) Based on the true story of how a regular guy (Vince Papale), struggling through the recession in 70's america, took the NFL by storm after being selected from open try outs with his beloved Philidelphia Eagles.
br /
br /Like i said this would never happen today but this is a truly inspirational story. Vince Papale lost his job, his wife and was working as a bartender when the Philidelphia Eagles held open tryouts. A publicity stunt to bring the fans back to the underachieving Eagles side. Not even the coach who called for the tryouts to take place was expecting to find a player worth signing but then he saw Vince Papale.
br /
br /This film is fantastic, the cast are brilliant, the story is inspirational and the script is strong enough to pull off a great film.
br /
br /American Football fans, sports lovers, Rocky fans buy this film. You will not regret it.
