Customer Reviews: Bollywood on stage January 4, 2009 Lyn (Melbourne Australia) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful This is a generous dose of excerpts from tours by some of the leading Bollywood stars and compared by Shahrukh Khan who also performs with them. br /This is one for fans and collectors. br /The stars dance and mime (as usual) to well known Bollywood songs - both collectively and together. br /We have some of them showing off skills they have outside the movies. Particularly of note was Saif Ali Khan playing blistering electric guitar and Arjun Rampal doing his martial arts moves and breaking boards. br /SRK has the audiences eating out of his hands and regularly calling a fan up from the audience to sing and act with him. He has a quick and gentle humour and holds the show together. br /I also liked seeing the work and performance of one of the worlds leading choreographers who came out of the Bollywood tradition and choreographed for the shows. br /There is also a mock movie the actors as a group hammed up and and acted out to the audiences great amusement. br /Unfortunately the visual quality isn't always the best. The shots are also often basic and don't involve you as much with what is happening on stage as they could. I have seen a lot of rock concerts on DVD and am used to this becoming quite an art in the West. It is to be hoped Bollywood can learn from this as well so there is a better record of these much loved stars (who look like a group of friends who decided to come together and travel and have some fun. br /Unfortunately SRK has suffered a lot of what we call 'tall poppy syndrome' in Australia - if you stand too tall you risk having your head lopped just for being up there. There seems to have been some backlash against him in some quarters. I like his stuff personally and find him involving and charismatic to watch. This footage shows he still has a lot of fans all over the world and is still much loved by many. Hang in there SRK and keep churning them out!
