Personally, I liked it. March 9, 2008 Mr. Stanley M. Watson (Wolverhampton, England, UK.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The first viewing made me want to watch it again, but I left it a week before I did so. I found this a witty, interesting and enjoyable tale. If you can't get past the split-screen, then fair enough, but if you can, stick with it. I enjoyed it with the split-screen anyway.

br /Helena Bonham Carter and Aaron Eckhart give wonderful performances, in my opinion, and I would recommend the film.
Totally Unmissable August 3, 2007 Delia Scony (Buckinghamshire) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
A sexually-charged battle of wits, as dangerous sparks fly between these two apparent strangers (Helena Bonham Carter Aaron Eckhart)

br /An unconventional and poignant love story, showing there really are two sides to every story, featuring music from Carla Bruni, this is an unflinching observation of men, women, relationships and a love lost...

br /Superb performances all round, this is Hans Canosa's directing debut feature, I can't wait for his next film
Just brilliant July 31, 2008 K. P. Curtis (Bath, UK) A pleasing antidote to standard Hollywood romantic comedies. If you liked "Before Sunset" or "2 Days In Paris" then you will love this.

br /NB. it is filmed in split-screen throughout so you'll be needing a widescreen TV to watch it.
Heartfelt, sweet, romantic - a gem. August 5, 2008 blackcurls (U.K.) This is a beautiful movie. It's simple, elegant, realistic and memorable. Good enough, at least, for me to write a review of it, something I rarely do! I do understand the bad reviews - if you are not a film buff and like instant gratification from your films then this may not be for you. Also, the split screen will not be to everyone's taste.

br /In the context of the story, I found the use of split screen imagery wonderful and relative. Unlike so many movies and T.V. shows who use split screen to mask a lack of content and quality, Conversations With Other Women, uses it to enhance the quality of the storytelling - it isn't just a flashy gimmick, but rather, a very sweet way of communicating who these characters are without the use of dialogue. Both Aaron Eckhart and Helena Bonham Carter give relaxed, sincere performances - you come away feeling like you know them, even though we are given very little information about them.

br /If you like romantic movies that aren't slushy or stupid, then you should like this - it has a touch of the art house about it, so expect a 'less is more' attitude.
Highly Recommended - an intelliegent and intimate film August 31, 2007 scarletfever7 (London, UK) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Highly recommended. This film has a lot in common with good theatre drama ie intelligent dialogue, well developed characters, claustrophobic setting and intimate feel. So realistic it sometimes feels improvised. If that's what you like, then this one's for you.

br /There are basically just two characters and two sets but despite that it is fast-moving and I found it compelling to watch. A man and a woman (exes?) who meet at the dreg end of a big wedding in the empty dining room of a hotel, move on to her hotel room and gradually reveal themselves through a series of witty exchanges.
br /
br /There is a constant split screen; sometimes showing flashbacks, sometimes showing close-ups of the two characters so we get to see a lot of reaction shots. Newspaper reviewers had mentioned this was irritating - but I found it really interesting and added intensity and intimacy
br /
br /The acting is superb and the chemistry between the two of them gradually builds up to a scorching intensity. I can't believe I'm writing that about a performance from Helen Bonham-Carter - but it's true. My only criticism of her is that she starts out with a slight American accent which is gradually dropped as the film progresses (her character is supposed to be an American now living in London).
