Amazon.co.uk Two of TV`s funniest and most popular comic actors, Zach Braff (iScrubs/i) and Jason Bateman (iArrested Development/i) take no prisoners as they fight it out for the love of Sofia (Amanda Peet). Tom Reilly (Braff) and his wife Sofia (Peet) have just had a baby and when Sofia, the breadwinner, decides to be a stay-at-home mum, it's all change. They move out of the city, back to Sofia's hometown where Tom is offered a job at the firm run by his father-in-law (The legendary Charles Grodin). Everything seems to be fitting nicely into place until Chip (Bateman), Sofia's ex-boyfriend, local hero and all-round wonder-boy is appointed as Tom's manager. Chip's flame for Sofia still burns brightly and he will stop at nothing to see Tom undermined, humiliated and made a fool of in order to win back his ex...

Great for fans of Scrubs........ September 5, 2007 Cyderman (Cyber Space) 4 out of 19 found this review helpful
Tom has always lived a fairly easy life. His wife, Sofia, is a hard working lawyer and brings in enough money for them both to live comfortably. Things change when Sofia has their first baby and gives up work, forcing Tom to find a job. They move to Ohio so Tom can work for his father in law, but not all goes to plan when Tom discovers his new boss is Sofia's ex...
A bit disappointing September 24, 2007 Mr. David Halliday (Ilkeston Derbyshire United Kingdom) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Zach Braff is a bit of a loser who moves with his wife,(Amanda Peet), baby to where his in-laws live and gets a job at his father-in-laws,(Charles Grodin), workplace,( run by a hippy with an 'off the wall approach' to buisiness),. It's at his new job that he quickly makes enemies with wheelchair bound former wifes boyfriend,(Jason Bateman),.
br /The line-up promises far more than a very lazy script delivers. So much is just left that should have been used to create some much needed laughs, Braffs potty new boss, Batemans life, Grodins reaction to his being fired, Peets ambitions Mia Farrow as Braffs mother in law are just a few examples and are all totally left to the viewers imagination.
br /There are some funny moments and certainly the usual plot is not always followed and the reason for 3 stars is the easygoing charm of Braff Bateman, even the usually wooden Peet is good and Grodin steals every scene he's in.
br /This is not terrible but it could easily have been so much better. Perhaps a less iron-like grip by director Peretz my have allowed the 2 main actors the air to inject more humour, take a look at the bloopers to see their ability to ad-lib.
br /The picture is fine if not outstanding sound is fine with dialogue clear.
br /Close but not quite.
Pretty good - Average to Good September 18, 2007 Jason Mackinnon (Fort William, Scotland) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Most males will get this film, see the funny side and laugh about the daft scenarios we've probably all experienced. Maybe just not in such a Hollywood way though.

br /Really enjoyed it, hadn't expected too much. But it delivered a few laughs and an evening wasn't a total waste. A good one to watch with your other half.

The Ex May 23, 2008 Spider Monkey (UK) This film is a pretty lack lustre affair, that severely under-uses Braff's talents. It is fairly easy going and has some funny moments, but nothing truly gut busting. I struggle to write much more about it really! If you want a chilled out film, that doesn't take itself too seriously and don't mind a touch of Hollywood cheesiness, then this film should suit you fine. Good, but not great.
humorous from beginning to end November 10, 2007 dan the fan (england,uk) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This film was humorous from beginning to end but lacked something - I don't know what and that is probably its flaw!
