We caught the beginning by accident and ended up abandoning plans to watch a dvd as it was so good. br / br /Wonderfully written characters who are quirky and real, a lovely story and something we will definitely watch again. My only complaint is that it didn't last longer! br / br /I'd definitely watch anything else Jessica Hynes writes in future. Learners - a gentle comedy drama October 4, 2007 Mr. Keith England 13 out of 21 found this review helpful We were lucky enough to go to the premiere of Learners at BAFTA in London on 3rd October. br /Written by, as well as starring, Jessica Hynes, Learners has the feel of a fictional - and much funnier - version of 'Driving School'. Bev (Jessica Hynes) having failed 8 driving tests with her partner's help (Shaun Dingwall) and desperate to pass, turns to a professional instructor Chris (David Tennant)for help. Chris' endless patience seems to result in him being surrounded by all the driving school's no-hopers (a wonderful set of characters!) none of which he will give up on. The result is a gentle comedy drama that is suitable for the whole family but no less enjoyable for it. br / br /Jessica Hynes had to pass her test to do the driving scenes in Learners and did so, at the 3rd attempt, not long before filming started - so no difficulty getting into character then! br / br /Of course the fact that my Doctor Who mad daughter found herself surrounded by very kindly Doctor Who stars who had come along to the premiere certainly didn't detract from the experience ;-) hilarious March 8, 2008 Ms. G. Being a big fan of david tennant i just had to watch it. the characters jessica hynes has created are brilliant. the geeky instructor, the buddhist business owner, another driving instructor (a small part but absolutley genius!) definitley a good buy for anybody whether a david tennant or jessica hynes fan or not you will love it!!! As a big David Tennant fan I knew it would be good. I loved it, it was such a feel good show. Everyone wants a driving instructor like Chris - mine was actually like him! It had the wonderful Con O'Neill in it as well which just made the show even better. I passed my test 4th time not long after watching this. Definitely a must have! Learners February 11, 2009 L.
