TOTH (Ostrava, Czech Republic) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful I'm ashamed to admit that I was wooed by the pretty but in fact rather idealistic image of Keira Knightley on the DVD cover as it finally turned out. Yes, she is a lovely looker but the character she plays retains a certain coolness throughout the film, in such contrast to her ethnically different but even more beautiful and endearing co-star. In fact it's the supporting cast who really score in this charming comedy with a serious aim to heighten our awareness of the nightmarish cultural conflict suffered by young Asians growing up in Britain. This should be compulsory viewing for all schools in my opinion, and I intend to screen it in all my classes at the bilingual, multi-ethnic primary school where I teach in the Czech Republic. Some really hilarious scenes and an engaging romantic element ensure that you never get bored or feel as if you are being talked down to. Lovely and funny June 4, 2009 P. G. So, a picture on the front of her didn't make me see the movie. And it's not her who's worth it, it's Parminder K. Nagra! br / br /What a feel good movie. I'm not into football nor bollywood, but this is a story about an Indian girl, trying to fight for what she believes in. In her case easier said than done, because her Indian background doesn't allow her to do so. The movie is about struggles, love and a lot of misunderstanding. It makes me realise that I should be grateful for all the things I have achieved, without being hold back by my culture. br / br /Yes, this movie is a 5 star movie.
