| Customer Reviews: Five Star Fun November 17, 2007 Erwin M. Fletcher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In one day lazy bum John Winger gets dumped, robbed loses his job, his car, apartment and drops his pizza on the way home. It's time to make a change, make a stand raise your head and join uncle Sam.
br / Bill Murray joins the u.s.army in Stripes. If your a fan of comedy's this movie is an essential addition to your collection, Co starring John Candy, Harold Ramis and Judge Reinhold. Anything goes in this movie as John Winger cuts his hair puts on the boots and takes the troop out to a mud wrestling match. Stripes is one of the keystones in the bridge of Bill Murray's career. Absolute fun 5/5
Murray Magic December 17, 2008 G. R. Donaldson (Great Britain) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This has to be Bill Murray at his lazy, cynical work shy best. Stripes has been unfairly compared to Police Academy. Not so, its way better than that. Murrays nemesis sergant Hulka beautifully played by the ever dependable Warren Oates is a delight to watch. The cast John Candy,Harold Ramis, Sean Young all help prop up what is essentially Murray's film. The scene in the barracks where Hulka is attempting to bond with the raw recruits while Murray snipes is hilarious. If you dont already own this film or havent seen it? then rectify this now. At £4.98 its doubtful you will get more laughs for your money anywhere else.Apart from Caddyshack perhaps. Bill Murrays great in that as well.
Murray at his lazy best June 13, 2009 Mark Pallett (Dead Jester) For me this is a film I grew up with, I must of watched it dozens of times when I was younger! I had'nt seen it in a while though so decided to buy it and watch it again hoping that it had not lost any of its charm! It didnt disapoint! Maybe its only cause Im such a huge Murray fan but he never fails to make me crack a smile when he introduces himself and says "Chicks dig me cause I rarely wear underwear and when I do its normally something un-usual!" Its light-hearted and in no way takes itself seriously (which is a very good thing for a film abiout the US army...) and flows along nicely. Definitely a good choice for those lookin for a hour and a half of easy entertainment! (also check a few "boob" shots for those who would be interested in that sort of thing...)

But not as good as I thought it was going to be.
br /This movie was released 27 years ago!, so let's call it early Murray. I'm a big Bill Murray fan, and although it shows some of his talent, he's done better since.
br /The movie reminded me of Police academy. A bunch of misfit cadets, a nutty, loser commanding officer and a decorated NCO where despite the efforts of the latter, the misfits triumph in the end.
br /Worth a watch. You might get more out of it than I did.
br /The movie has a 15 rating and there are a few scences of nudity.
