Amazon.co.uk Review Best known as a comedian, iStella/i's Michael Ian Black makes his directorial debut with iWedding Daze/i. In the prologue, Anderson (Jason Biggs) dresses up as Cupid and proposes to his perfect girlfriend, who promptly keels over. A year later, he's still in mourning. Meanwhile, Katie (Isla Fisher) is also seeing a seemingly flawless fellow, and though her mother (Joanna Gleason) pressures her to accept his proposal, Katie has her doubts. The next day, she meets the unemployed Anderson at the diner where she works. On a dare, he asks her to marry him. Not only does she accept--she moves in with him. They make for an odd couple, but not as odd as their parents: Katie's stepfather (Matt Malloy) is a Jewish inventor, while her birth father (Joe Pantoliano) is a Buddhist convict; Anderson's parents (Margo Martindale and Edward Herrmann), on the other hand, are very happily married (suggestive words send them into a sexual frenzy). Clearly, Anderson and Katie's differing backgrounds create a momentary stumbling block, but their breakup lasts as long as their courtship--blink and you'll miss it. Denied a US theatrical release, iWedding Daze/i is a rough-around-the-edges, if sweet-natured romp. At the very least, it's superior to other wedding-orientated comedies of the time, like the crass iLicense to Wed/i. There are a few unnecessary gross-out gags, but an appealing cast--including Rob Corddry as a good-natured deputy--distract from the more awkward moments. i--Kathleen C. Fennessy, Amazon.com/i

Would you marry a stranger? June 22, 2008 Phil Greenough (London, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Jason Biggs is back as the unlucky in love, and life, character we all know and love him for.
br /
br /Whilst similar to the likes of American Pie and Wedding Crashers it does have it's own unique quirks and I found myself glued to the screen.
br /
br /The fact that these two strangers decide to get married as soon as they meet makes this one hell of a roller coaster ride. Not short of a few hick ups (in true Biggs style) the couple embark not only on getting married but actually getting to know each other. All this combined with the convicted father of the bride, circus freak friends and the visions of a dead girlfriend, this is sure to have you laughing from beginning to end.
br /
br /Ignore the bad press. Being compared with the blockbuster that is 'American Pie' this film never really had a chance with the media. But believe me this is quite possibly the funniest film of the year.

Happily Ever After February 5, 2008 T. L. Jeffery (England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Don't watch this film because the back cover blurb compares it to "Wedding Crashers" or "American Pie", watch this film for it's own story, and it's own unique take on the age old boy-meets-girl story.
br /
br /The characters are all very likable, especially the two leads, Jason Biggs and Isla Fisher. And it's their likability that enable the viewer to stay focussed from start to finish.
br /
br /The plot may seem far-fetched at times to some, but if it's accurate documentary you're after, then you shouldn't be watching it. This film is a sweet, escapist fantasy that stops short of the absurd to reflect on the nature of relationships and attraction at key points amongst the well excecuted chaos.
br /
br /I'm not going to rehash the plot again, the synopsis is there for all to read; but I do urge fans of the romantic comedy to go at this with an open mind, and all pre-conceptions and comparisons with recent offerings fully erased from their minds.
br /
br /Wedding Daze doesn't disappoint, and in my opinion, the powers that be totally blew the promotion, because they couldn't think outside their tiny box.
best movie ever November 22, 2007 J. Jacobs (Liverpoo) 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
oh my, one of the 3rd best movies out this year, only 3rd behind hairsray and stardust, with the best line ever in a movie" You can look across a crowded restaurant and fall in love wit a compleat stranger" tru, and its classic
Cupid's arrow has done been shot! April 3, 2008 Sue Lewendon (England) I watched this last night not expecting too much from it. I mean I enjoyed the American Pie films with Jason Biggs, but I didn't really enjoy Loser! all that much. This is more like back to the old school stuff.
br /
br /It tells the story of Anderson who decides to propose to his girlfriend Vanessa by dressing up as cupid and meeting her at a posh nosh restaurant. He recites a poem he has written for just such an occasion and gets down on one knee to pop the said question. As he, (and all the rest of the restaurants customers!), wait for her reply, Vanessa suddenly drops down dead!
br /
br /A year later, Anderson is still moping about after his lost love. His best friend Ted is fed up with it and tells him to just move on and get over it like other people. Anderson takes this quite literally and asks their waitress, (Katie) if she will marry him! Unknown to Anderson, he's asked the one girl who's likely to say yes, which she does quite enthusiastically!
br /
br /We then follow the couple through the rest of the film as they try to get to know each other, and meet each other's parents. Both mothers hate the new said fiance's. Katie's father hears of his daughter's engagement and decides to escape from jail to walk her down the aisle. Anderson's parents are hilarious. They are in their 50's but are still very sexually active and aren't afraid to speak out about it either!
br /
br /This wasn't quite like your American Pies or your Road Trips but it has something that kept me watching til the very end. My two teenage boys liked it too. They both gave it 7 and 8 out of 10. If you're looking for something that will have you cracked up from start to finish then look elsewhere, but this is still a funny film and well worth the time and effort.
Won't win awards for originality. January 14, 2008 L. Felthouse (Derbyshire, UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Cited as a mix between Wedding Crashers and American Pie, I knew I had to give this film a spin. After all, what's wrong with a little idiotic comedy every now and again? I'd read the synopsis and guessed from the off this was going to be some wacky film! I suppose it goes without saying, given it stars the nutty Jason Biggs?
br /
br /Anyway, I watched this with an open mind hoping for some belly laughs. The film begins with Anderson (Biggs) dressing up as Cupid to meet his girlfriend in a posh restaurant and propose to her. He even goes so far as to rub baby oil into his skin (*shudder*). On reading the love of his life a poem which culminates in the proposal, he waits with baited breath for a reply, but all he gets is to see his beloved drawing her last breath and keeling over on the floor.
br /
br /A year later and Anderson is still horribly depressed over the death of his fiancee - though technically she never said yes. Anderson's best friend Ted is at his wit's end and takes the harsh approach, telling him to "get over it." Unfortunately, Anderson takes this advice a little too literally and proposes to the next girl he lays eyes on - Katie, the pretty waitress in the cafe they're in! Even more shocking, she says yes.
br /
br /What follows next is a crazy attempt for the couple to get to know each other, do the whole "meeting the parents" thing and then actually get married! There are several hiccups on the way, mainly involving Katie's jailbird father escaping to give his little girl away and causing all kinds of havoc.
br /
br /Overall, this wasn't a bad film. This is probably because I've seen so many films in the same strain, but it did seem to me to be a huge mixture of lots of other films. But to be honest, it wasn't as funny as I was expecting. It raised a couple of titters, but I doubt anyone is going to be rolling in the aisles. So it's pretty mediocre - worth a watch, but isn't going to win any points for originality.
