Editorial Reviews: Amazon.co.uk Review The IOcean's Trilogy/I, a brand new four-disc set, brings together IOcean's Eleven/I, IOcean's Twelve/I and IOcean's Thirteen/I in one box, delivering some of the finest old-style caper entertainment seen on the big screen in years. p IOcean's Eleven/I is the best of the trilogy, and also superior to the original Rat Pack film that it's a remake of. Here, we're introduced for the first time to Daniel Ocean (George Clooney, who effortlessly charms his way through all three films with real style) and his group of fellow cons (including Brad Pitt and Matt Damon) as they try and pull off a daring casino heist. It's a thrilling, immaculately packaged slice of Hollywood entertainment, and easily stands up to repeated viewings. P The first sequel, IOcean's Twelve/I, is a mess though. The first half sets things up nicely, introducing further themes of competition and revenge, but it then pulls a blistering stupid plot device around half way through and never recovers. There's still plenty to enjoy, but it's a real missed opportunity. P IOcean's Thirteen/I finds the gang in much finer form though, and the addition of Al Pacino to the roster as the new villain of the piece does it no harm whatsoever. The focus is back onto a single job, and while it's light on twists, it's still a breezy caper that's hard not to warm to. P Packed with big name stars, and directed on the whole with real skill by Steven Soderbergh, the IOcean's Trilogy/I is--the middle film excepted--testament to just how much fun watching movie stars doing their thing can be. November 5, 2007 ChrisHaydon (Whitstable, Kent, United Kingdom) 37 out of 39 found this review helpful Danny Ocean his crew of crooks have taken us on three adventures exploring deep into their hiests and amusing criminal behaviour, now you can own all three together with an extra bonus disc for £23. br /Not a bad price for a boxset with a movie realesed today (Mon 5th November) with most retail outlets selling it at £15 is it? br / br /These films are an esstential to anyone's DVD collection and are great films to watch with friends, family, partners and anyone who enjoys a good laugh and a star-studded cast, because let's face it, Clooney, Damon and Pitt, it's bound to be worth watching. br / br /'Ocean's Eleven Thirteen' are just brilliant. They are amusing, fun and just a pleasure to watch. br /'Ocean's Twelve' is definatly the weaker of the three, however the other two films and the bonus disc make up for it, making this one of the coolest boxset released in the past few weeks. br /A great boxset for all to enjoy. You need to have seen Ocean's 11 in order to understand Ocean's 12, while Ocean's 13 can be viewed on its own. br / br /Generally it's a mixture of thief and clever spy film, with a lot of humour. I can watch the films again and again and keep finding new details and clever humour. The plot is intelligent and thrilling. br / br /Mr. Ocean, the masterthief played by George Clooney, gets together a gang of fellow thieves in order to steal some money and win back his ex-wife. In Ocean's 12, another masterthief gets jealous of the Ocean gang and forces the gang into a thieving contest. For Ocean's 13 the gang gets together again to revenge one of their own. The fourth DVD contains a funny and interesting documentary about real-life thefts, which were cleverly masterminded.
