Based upon the written biography by Heymann (available on Amazon also) this is a fascinating portrayal of the late Barbara Hutton by the sadly recently deceased Farrah Fawcett. Farrah is superb in the role - playing it with great balance as an actor, convincingly and without making the viewer feel particularly sorry for, or anti it's subject (she does come across as quite a feisty character at times.) br / br / Certainly one does feel a certain amount of sympathy for Ms Hutton - who got married about seven times - mostly disastrously. After all, being just about the richest woman in the world during the time in which she lived, might sound very appealing on the surface, but when you cannot be sure if people like you for yourself or quite simply like your money then life can't be much fun. Ms Hutton is portrayed from her childhood as a very lonely, emotionally deprived little girl, which leads to a similar way of existence as an adult. Her story is ultimately tragic as well as intriguing: hence the notion of her as the "poor little rich girl". Certainly, if the portrayal is a true one she was subject to much abuse of different kinds by the people with whom she associated. br / br /Well worth putting into one's film collection and watching again and again - mainly because Ms Hutton's life was so apparently complicated romantically and it becomes extremely complicated as she goes from being a Princess to a Countess etc. etc. The settings/locations are very lavish and enjoyable, the costumes and make up/hairstyles are a delight to see. Following the fantasy of being "super-rich" is always a popular theme, and in this case the fantasy is based upon reality. br / br /All in all an enjoyable, well-made "biopic" with well-depicted themes of life's miseries (see my "tags") to which all people can be prey no matter what their financial circumstances.
