Amazon.co.uk Review
With the adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow (memorably portrayed by Johnny Depp) earning legions of fans right across the globe, the IPirates of the Caribbean/I trilogy has proven to be one of the most popular series of films in recent times. Fortunately, there's good reason too. P The trilogy starts off with the best of the three films. IThe Curse Of The Black Pearl/I is a superb piece of blockbuster movie making, delivering lots of laughs, some fabulous set pieces and a core of good, old-fashioned swashbuckling action. With a terrific supporting cast, led by the likes of Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, its running time simply zips by in a flash, and there's plenty of incentive to hit the play button again once the credits roll. P The second movie in the series, IDead Man's Chest/I was more commercially successful, but it's not quite as strong a film. Nonetheless, there's still plenty to enjoy, including Bill Nighy's stunning Davy Jones (the special effects there are something to behold). And it earns extra bonus points for a terrific final twist in the end reel. P And then we arrive at the closing part of the trilogy, IAt World's End/I. This is arguably the most bloated, with a nigh-on three hour running time, but it does pack a lot in. Multiple Johnny Depps for starters, along with some terrific action too. P While the three parts of the IPirates of the Caribbean/I trilogy may thus be a little uneven, its nonetheless a collection of films with plenty to recommend. The first part sails away with the top honours, but there's little doubt that all three are set to entertain audiences for many years to come. --IJon Foster/I

5 out of 5 stars My favourtie trilogy of all times!   August 11, 2008

I loved the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy. It had everything, Horror, Comedy, Action and Romance. And the characters were simply brilliant. br /The Curse of the Black Pearl br / The film is set in and around the Caribbean were a notorious pirate turns up in a small British Port. Soon after the Black Pearl turns up and steals the Governer's Daughter (Keira Knightley). So Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnney Depp) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) chase after them. br /Dead Man's Chest br /This film sees the entrance of Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) and the Flying Dutchman. So as Jack tries to stay one step ahead of the Kraken and the East India Trading Company searching for the Heart of Davy Jones, we see our characters, cross each other, fight each other and keep Jack from Heading to Davy Jones Locker. br /At World's End br /Elizabeth and Will ask for the help of Tia Dalme and Captain Barbossa to rescue Jack from Davy Jones Locker. Then being able to unite the Brethren Court and make one last stand against the East India Trading Company and Davy Jones. And Sao Feng (Chow-Yung-Fat) along with the other Pirate Lords must stop there arguing long enough to help. br /I didnt go out and see the first one straight away but i see it on the telly and loved it. I wondred what making a Disney Ride into a film would be like but I think it turned out fantastic. 10/10!

5 out of 5 stars Great entertainment for all the family....great value too!   October 11, 2008

Due to so many varied reviews on Amazon about the individual DVD's in the series,I will limit my comments just to say that this box set represents superb family entertainment whatever your age and is possibly one of the best value box sets around. br /As family viewing goes,it will keep the kids quiet for hours but the individual films are lengthy so spread your viewing over a couple of weekends to prevent over doing it.The movies themselves are great fun and with so many gruesome characters, make sure the more nervous ones in your family who are old enough to watch have someone to snuggle up to,just in case. In fact,in some of the scenes,I could have done with snuggling up to someone myself! br /This is great entertainment and if you have not seen the movies at the cinema yourself, you are in for a treat. br /Happy viewing!

5 out of 5 stars Top class movies in time for Christmas   November 26, 2007

Ive noticed that they are plugging the third film At Worlds End on DVD or Blu-Ray on TV more than ever on the build up to Christmas but not a word about a box set such as the one ordered here. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed all the films, did find At Worlds End slightly confusing when watched at the cinema but still never spoilt the enjoyment of it. The box set is a present for her for Christmas from the kids so hope she will enjoy it and buying the box set on Amazon has saved me some time and money. All deserves the 5 star rating in my book!

5 out of 5 stars the best box set for thrills, action and laughs   January 25, 2009

After seeing one of the films on the television and loved it, as soon as I saw the box set of all 3 films I just had to get them, once you can see all 3 you can follow the story that runs all the way through the 3 films and then you can understand them so much better, full of action, thrills and laughs at times, the one liners are something else, if you want a great weekend in then watch one each evening, great family viewing (as long as they are not too young) just leave them a couple of months and watch again, just as thrilling.

An excellent rip roaring adventure - not to be missed.. See it for yourself. You can watch these movies again and again and still see things that you did not pick up on before.
