Amazon.co.uk Review
There's no getting around it: there was simply no better summer blockbuster in 2007 than the astonishing IThe Bourne Ultimatum/I. P It's a film that defies expectations in many ways. Firstly, it's a third entry in a trilogy that by some distance in the best in an already-compelling franchise. Secondly, whenIThe Bourne Ultimatum/I kickstarts with a ferocious energy and pace, you sit there and rightly expect it not to keep the momentum going. But it does. And does it astonishingly well. Just witness the breathless sequence through Waterloo Station, convince yourself that the film has peaked then, then go and watch them top it later on in the movie. P The film itself has many trump cards, not least its leading man. Matt Damon fits the character of reluctant lead Jason Bourne perfectly, but the trick is to give him some excellent supporting players to work against. Thus, IThe Bourne Ultimatum/I also stars the excellent pair of David Straitharn and a returning Joan Allen, along with Albert Finney, Paddy Considine and Julia Stiles too. P But the hidden hero of IThe Bourne Ultimatum/I is director Paul Greengrass. Arguably one of the most interesting and talented directors working today (he was rightly Oscar-nominated for his haunting IUnited 93/I), Greengrass has fashioned a genuinely thrilling action thriller, that bursts with an energy and relentlessness that you simply have no right to expect. That he also managed to wrap up the story Jason Bourne's quest for his identity in the midst of it is all the more astonishing. P A terrific end to an already-impressive trilogy, there's little else ot say about IThe Bourne Ultimatum/I, which is simply a near flawless piece of blockbuster entertainment. Put simply: don't miss this movie. --ISimon Brew/I

5 out of 5 stars Bourne Ultimatum   October 20, 2008

This is the best one of the 3 movies. br /There is no respite in the action from beginning to end .It starts just after the end of the Moscow apartment visit in TBS and take sit from there. br / br /Some of the action sequels repeat themselves to boredom and become predictive but not this one ,is all about thinking quick to stay alive for the next few minutes . br / br /Directed by Paul Greengrass the average take is a couple of seconds a is shot mainly with hand held cameras , so it gives the impression that you see what Jason sees. Some viewers complain that it makes it difficilt to focus but to me it makes it look more real. br / br /The sequence in Waterloo station is the best in the whole trilogy and the sequence in Morocco the second best. br /We see a lot more of Nicky Parsons ( I wished she had a bigger role ). br /Is more about answers that questions and 100 % action. br / br /I hope the bring out a nice DVD trilogy set with lots of extras an deleted scenes. br / br /Movie of the year.

5 out of 5 stars Is it really over?   December 14, 2007

A great conclusive end to the trilogy. I really hope they come up with a way of continueing it though. br /If you've not seen the first 2 please don't watch this first! I don't think there is a best of the three - they're all equally, cooooel. br / br /I flinched and bought a HD-DVD player for this and Transformers mainly. I'll stick my neck out and now say that I prefer Blu-ray. They just seems much better on the quality. The HD-DVD's menu's all seems to jerk around and this whole 'connect your player to the internet to download extra features' thing. What on earth is that about? Seriously, can't we just have it on the disk????

5 out of 5 stars Great film   January 21, 2008

Unlike most of the other reviews I found this film a fantastic watch. I thought I would redress the balance as there is no way that this should be classified as 3 star film (which it currently is at the time of writing). br /This film is one of those films you can watch again and again. The hd quality is excellent and well worthy of a purchase. Can't believe this is the last one :( br /Matt Damon was well cast in the role and the film follows on very well from the previous 2 films which were also excellent.

5 out of 5 stars Superb.   January 23, 2008

Whilst I agree that the HD-DVD transfer is not superb the film most definitely is. From the superb soundtrack to the fast paced storyline this is pure class. Paul Greengrass is to be congratulated. A fine conclusion to the series - I have to admit I wish it wasn't the last but PG has said he won't do another (and he is the only one who could bring Bourne back). Anyway it was fun re watching the whole trilogy in HD over the holidays.
