Amazon.co.uk Review
Some people go all through their career without managing to land even one memorable role. Thanks to iCalifornication/i, David Duchovny has now chalked up two. Yet Hank Moody is as far removed from iThe X-Files/i' Fox Mulder as you can pretty much get. That's because Moody is a successful author, only one with a real eye for the opposite sex. He's a man caught in the midst of a troubled life, on one hand a father, on the other dabbling with the odd drink (to put it mildly). And it's the complexity of the character that Duchovny clearly has a ball with, lifting iCalifornication/i into must-see territory in the process.p A real show out of nowhere, iCalifornication/i though has so much more going for it. The scripts veer between very funny moments and areas that other shows wouldn't go anywhere near, while the supporting cast do ably up their game to keep up with the leading man.p The full first season of iCalifornication/i is presented here, and it's fair to say it leaves you salivating for more. An individual, entertaining and very funny show, this is one of those occasions where the hype surrounding a programme is there to be believed. Don't miss it. --iJon Foster/i

5 out of 5 stars BLOODY HELL   January 13, 2008

WHERE THE HELL DID THIS COME FROM??? br / br /A totally chaotic individual too scared to follow his talent pines for his lost love and shags his way around the city of LA. David Duchovny gives a masterful performance as a writer who has struck gold with his novel but having moved from NY to LA is now drinking himself into one bed after another. But he wants his family back together, loves his daughter and wants to love his hearts true love, which is now betrothed to another. The story is great, the acting is great, the content is explicit, and as the series title suggests most definitely adult only. br / br /Bloody Brilliant!!! br / br /A darkly brooding heroic character that is funny but pathetic. talented but empty, has found true love but loves many women, a contradiction but so true to life. br / br /Be entertained by a really surprising show and masterful performance!!!

5 out of 5 stars Sex The City For Guys and Girls   October 29, 2008

For anyone who thought Sex The City was too camp to watch (didn't The Simpsons describe it as a show about four women who act like gay men?), here is the grown-up, sassy and sexy alternative. br / br /David Duchovny may be better known for the X-Files, but here he looks much happier, playing the blocked writer Hank Moody, living fast in LA, trying to win back his partner Karen (Natasha McElhone(?) and their daughter from a wealthy but dull publisher, Bill. Kinda reminded me of The Philadelphia Story, minus the class warfare. br / br /This comedy is sharp, with crackling dialogue, very explicit, but in the best sense, adult. The title may sound gimmicky, but it tells you what you need to know: that this is a series about adult relations and the rights and wrongs attached to exercising our freedom to pursue casual relationships at the expense of greater and more meaningful ones. br / br /Anyway, it's a winner, funny but serious. If you're eighteen or over, see it.

5 out of 5 stars Witty, Sarcastic and loadsa fun   November 23, 2007

It is great to finally have a show that doesn't hide behind taboo subject's. After years of playing the undervalued worker in X-Files, he gets a chance to say what a lot of people would love to say but refrain from it. br /Being aware that certain groups find the show offensive in numerous ways, in br /reality i really think they should lighten up, its not meant to be taken seriously. If anything it might let people get out of their shell. Its a feel good show which makes you chuckle all the way through! The music is really funky in it too br / br /I totally recommend it to anyone over the required age cos u'll laugh your a*s off!

Well what can I say about this series that other people have not mentioned............,nothing! You have to buy it, I do not think I have cringed or laughed out loud so many times from watching a series. I love NIP TUCK, this is better by far. The character 'Hank' is so well written and the situations he gets involved in are a classic case of drama/comedy at it's peak. EPISODE 2 was genius in it's scenario presentation. br / br /Bring on season 2..........., God I hope it runs for years to come. BUY BUY BUY BUY......WATCH WATCH WATCH.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant (And Sick, And Ironic) American TV Shock!   June 17, 2008

About 10 minutes into the first episode I could not believe that this was made in Hollywierd. Intelligent, beautifully written, good characterization, Excellent (if limited, characters "grow" very little, like life really!) acting, witty, ironic (something most Americans can't understand or believe is unpatriotic) literate without being preachy, sometimes erotic, often very sick and twisted, I can't recommend this highly enough. Even the teenage daughter is a delight to watch! Clever characters do stupid things for real reasons without you thinking it's out of character. Despite their flaws these people become real to you, I ended up caring about them, groaning as Hank does yet another really dumb thing thinking this might make him happy, smiling wistfully as his soon to be married ex-wife tries yet another speech to make him grow up. br /Wonderful entertainment. Buy and watch today. br /Praying for a series Two!
