Amazon.co.uk Review
pHow does ISpider-Man 3/I follow on the heels of its predecessor, which was widely considered the best superhero movie ever? For starters, you pick up the loose threads from that movie, then add some key elements of the Spidey comic book mythos (including fan-favourite villain Venom), the black costume, and the characters of Gwen Stacy and her police captain father./p pIn the beginning, things have never looked better for Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire): He's doing well in school; his alter ego, Spider-Man, is loved and respected around New York City. And his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), has just taken a starring role in a Broadway musical. But nothing good can last for Spidey. Mary Jane's career quickly goes downhill; she's bothered by Peter's attractive new classmate, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard); and the new IDaily Bugle/I photographer, Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), is trying to steal his thunder. Enter a new villain, the Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), who can transform his body into various forms and shapes of sand and who may be connected to Peter's past in an unexpected way. There's also the son of an old villain, Harry Osborne (James Franco), who unmasked Spidey in the previous movie and still has revenge on his mind. And a new black costume seems to boost Spidey's powers, but transforms mild-mannered Peter into a mean and obnoxious boor (Maguire has some fun here)./p pIf that sounds like a lot to pack into one 140-minute film, it is. While director Sam Raimi keeps things flowing, assisted on the screenplay by his brother Ivan, and Alvin Sargent, there's a little too much going on, and it's inevitable that one of the villains (there are three or four, depending on how you count) gets significantly short-changed. Still, the cast is excellent, the effects are fantastic, and the action is fast and furious. Even if iSpider-Man 3/I isn't the match of ISpider-Man 2/Ia, it's a worthy addition to the megamillion-dollar franchise./p I--David Horiuchi/I

5 out of 5 stars Spiderman trilogy - I will be buying it   October 22, 2007

This is definitely a trilogy I'll be wanting in my collection. I wasn't too sure on the spiderman movie idea when it first came out, but after watching it, I was hooked. I loved Spiderman 2 and when 3 came out, I was so ecstatic after seeing it at the cinema, I wanted to turn around and go right back in again. Absolutely brilliant movie; all 3 combined = absolute heaven.

This is an absolute bargain buy! It contains the double-disc editions of all three Spider-man films for a fantastic price! Well worth it if you don't already own them (which I didn't before, as I was waiting for a trilogy set).

5 out of 5 stars With great power comes great responsibility   May 8, 2007

Since most of the other reviews have explained the story I won't go into that, but this is definitly one of the best superhero films out, it's not easy to direct and make a film like that but Sam Raimi has done a good job. br / br /Some people thought venom should have been in it longer, but when I watched it, he was on the screen close up and fighting spiderman one on one for a lot longer than I expected, and think we should be thankful that venom was in it at all, but anyone who has seen it has got to admit, he looked awesome, and the fight between him and spiderman is unmissable, he can't set of his spider sense which makes things more interesting, and the effects for Sandman and the big storyline, (or different storylines in one) have been done well. br / br /Also, some people think that the film has too much, but if you understand whats going on, which I did, the story isn't hard to understand, and it's easy to get to grips with, including some vital scenes leading up to the main battle at the end, and are really just seeing it to have a good time, and enjoy the special effects and amazing fight scenes, (and some of them are big), and the four way battle at the end (yer, including that one), then come on, this is definitly a must see film. br / br /If you have read any bad reviews from film critics (I know there have been a few) don't listen to them, they are paid to hammer a film and bring out bad points, but this is fantasy and a big movie, even people who maybe arent spiderman fans would have to admit that its a really good film. br / br /You would soon be complaining if there wasn't enough in it, or if there was stupid bad guy, but this has three, (third is harry osbourne the new goblin) and they all have been done really well. Peter and Harry actually have two big fights, one at the start where Harry attacks Peter when he's not expecting it (he's on his scooter to propose to Mary Jane), and one more into the film when Peter has his black suit and he throws insults and cocky remarks at Harry when he fights him in his father's goblin lair which also means Harry is also able to use different weapons again to fight a more powerful dark suited spiderman, even though this time, it doesn't help him much. Yer, as you might expect, spiderman still kicks butt, leaving a pumpkin bomb to explode in his old friends face, (don't worry, I'll shut up now, I don't want to spoil more of the big scenes for you if you haven't watched it yet.) But one more thing I will say is their second fight, is slightly more brutal and intense than their first one, no surprise there though, Peter is in the dark suit. br / br /so if there are things that arn't great about the film, either talk to the director about it, although he would probably just give you the directors chair and tell you to try and do a better job of taking control of a really successful franchise, or you can just overlook and ignore those small faults and enjoy the film which is great, seriously, give the director some slack and watch it, and when your done, play the game, which I also have on xbox360, which is also really good too.

5 out of 5 stars Great   September 12, 2007

Have to bring up the score here, two stars is not a fair amount to be put out into the amazon. br / br /The film was great, if not flawed, and I eagerly await it in high definition as the visuals are the one thing nobody can argue were disappointing
